iv got 09 duramax hot plus 2 race and just recintly my reduced engine power light came on. thought it was fuel filter, i changed it and same problem. code says low fuel rail pressure. is my cp3 getting weak???? only have 16 k on truck. only does it when im pulling. i watched my actual and desired fuel rail pressure, the actual while getting on it is as much as 13000 psi lower. same numbers with or without a trailer, but only throws a code while pulling a trailer. any one having same issues???

Bottle test to make sure your FPRV isnt opening premature..

if your running a big tune then u probably need a lift pump. the reason it wont limp empty is because it doesnt have as much of a load on it.

when my lift pump went out i bypassed it temporarily and i pulled my big tune out and ran the 225 with no problems. it never hurts to run a lift pump thats for sure. you may need to shim it as well.

Get a PPE ported fuel rail fitting for $39 and a fuel pressure release valve shim kit for $9 and you should be good up to the 225hp tune

There is a line at the back of your drivers side fuel rail coming out the top side..Remove that line and put a hose on there and run it into a bottle..put the bottle somewhere that it will stay put..Take it for a test drive..Check it often cause it will fill the bottle fast if the FPRV is popping off.. If you have fuel in the bottle then a race plug or shim is needed...Hope this helps..

i will try the bottle test for sure, i allready have the race fuel valve. talked to ppe and they said make sure its tightend to 60 70 lbs torque. and also talked to my mechanic he said only use delco fuel filters, is there any truth in that? i use the new black wix

finally took it to dealer they checked the fuel regulator and they say its fine, they found the ppe fuel rail plug and orderd a stock one. they said its not letting fuel go to other rail.does this sound right, i know ppe makes them for a 09. are all the plugs the same from 05 - 09????

That sounds bizzare, saying the ported PPE fitting is not flowing to the other side. I know one of the guys at PPE said you could run another ported fuel rail fitting for the passenger side rail. I normally tow on level 2 only and have never had a problem. Hope your problem gets figured out.

I was running out of fuel with a 400hp tow tune. Rail pressure went from 26k to 6k at high rpms. Put on a lift pump yesterday and rail pressure stays at 26k.
