Hey Y'all! I just took delivery of my 2005 HD with the Duramax. I figured if GM was nice enough to give these trucks away, I would be nice enough to take one! ):h
I have NOTHING bad to say about the Dodge/Cummins, as I just sold my 1999 Quad Cab 2500 with the 24 Valve to my Father-In-Law. I drove it for 271,000 miles and absolutley LOVED it.
However, 250 miles into this Duramax.....JEEPERS! This thing hauls a**! I merged onto the interstate this afternoon and looked down - spedometer said 97 mph! Woah.
Anyway, this truck is the goods. Momma loves the quiet ride, and also the Allison. Seven years with the Dodge & she never drove it (standard tranny).
Okay, now I am looking for some REAL maintenance information. I have never read an owners manual with so much "fluff." Too much "If you do this, then MAYBE you will need to do that." What kind of crap is that? I am a maintenance fanatic, and here was my schedule for the Dodge.....
Every 7,000 - Oil Change
Every 14,000 - Fuel Filter Change
Every 50,000 - Tranny Fluid, Coolant, Differential Fluid Change
Every 100,000 - Valve Adjustment
Can anyone verify/give input to a similar schedule for the Duramax? I drive about 40,000 miles per year, so these numbers come around quickly. Also, can anyone recommend a good service location in Southwest PA? I used to use Diesel Injection, but they are not sure they want to work on the Duramax - which sucks because they do a great job. :(
Any and all help would be GREATLY appreciated! :grd:
