: New Here
jzh11 06-18-2005, 09:38 PM hey guys, i'm new to this site and new to deisels all together. i've been reading over alot of these threads and you guys really seem to know what your talking about. but i'm kind of worried seeing some of the problems you guys are having with your trucks. i just bought an 03 silverado 2500 duramax ( if i can figure out how to post a pic i will), and the main reason i bought it was not to have to worry about fixing the truck everyother month, like my old truck, and also better gas mileage. so i guess what i'm asking is how happy are you with the overall reliability of your trucks? and whats your average gas mileage?
and alittle about myself, i'm a 21 y/o firefighter in florida, i've been a firefighter for almost a year now, best job in the world. i'm sure i'll be on this site alot asking stupid questions, thanks for your time guys.

srode 06-19-2005, 08:01 AM Overall reliability happy, although I did have 2 injectors replaced at 11,000 miles, but GM took care of it quickly. Getting a little over 20 MPG when driving mostly highway, trips not less than 30 miles, and staying 65 to 70MPH. Over 70, short trips, or city driving drops the mileage. Much better than freinds that have gas trucks, same model, they are getting 12 to 13 on average same driving conditions. Welcome to the board! Lots of good help here if you need it, just ask away.
Bowtie Boy 06-19-2005, 08:46 AM Welcome to the board. As far as reliability I am very happy (even though I have done some upgrades) and on mileage I average city about 14-15, hwy 17-19 but I drive pretty hard. Where in Fl. are you, I am in S.W. Fl.
blnagel 06-19-2005, 12:01 PM WELCOME! I love my truck. I did have all 8 injectors replaced in Dec04 and I am not looking back. It is the best truck I have ever owned and I doubt I will get rid of it.

jzh11 06-19-2005, 10:01 PM thanks for the info guys, one other question, is there a way to find out what warrantied maintainance has been done on my truck, such as injectors being replaced or not? just curious, also, what is the deal with these injectors, why do they go out, and will gm cover them when they go out? sorry for all the questions, just want to know what i'm getting into. thanks again.
bowtie boy - i'm in winter springs right now, which is just north of orlando, but i'll be moving to volusia county sometime soon, thats where i work.
