Does Michelin make this in a Load Range E tire? Does anyone know how to calculate the circumference and height of this tire and others?

Thanks. Brian.

Don't know if Michelin makes this size and if in what Load Range. Normally this size is normally mostly for MT tires with a aggressive tread for off road.

Calculation is easy:

255mm / 25.4 = 10 inches wide tire
10 * .85 *2 = 17 inches high tire (aspect ratio)
17 inches tire + 16 inches wheel = 33 inches diameter
diameter = 33 * PI = 103.67 inches or 2633.28 mm

If Michelin does make that size it isn't on their website. I sure wish they did though. If you keep the factory 6.5 inch wheels these seem like a great size to fill wells.

From what I can find only a hand full of brands make this size in an AT. Dayton and Cooper just to name a couple. Both are only load range D though.

I had a set of Firestones in this size years a go. Even though they aren't super wide the tall height increases the contact patch and still gives great traction. I had a warmed over 350 and could barely chirp them on dry pavement.

I'll probably go with 255/85 when the time comes.

Gents,

Thanks for the input. I wish Michelin made that size in the load range E tires. I have a set of 265/75/16 with 40K miles and I have a lot of tread left.

Brian.
