Just notice an oil leak today. Looks like the rear main but could not tell due to it being 3 degrees below zero and not wanting to freeze lying on the concrete. My luck it will be the most expensive fix due to no warranty. What kind of money are we looking at, ballpark? Truck has 46K on it

depends on 2wd or 4wd...

labor should be 5 hours (ish) for 2wd and 7 hrs for 4wd,plus the seal.

thanks, 4 wd would be around a grand by the time it was all said and done at a dealership?

it depends on the labor rate...let's say 8hrs...no reason it should be more...around rural areas like mine,65.00 is prett common..I imagine average is closer to 90$ per hr

I would sure check for leaks higher up on the engine. Too many things on top of the engine that could leak to spend a grand on a seal you may not need.
At 46,000 miles, I don't think the rear main bearing would be warn out enough to punch the seal out. Unless it sat for a long time and the seal is dry.
