I looked at a duramax yesterday and have been trying to decided on buying one. I now have a '02 2500hd crew cab 4x4 with the 6.0 gas and it's been great a pulling. Are they any downfalls to the duramax and how effecient are they milage wise? I have a buddy that runs a dealership and he told me that if I'm gonna buy one there will never be a better time than now.

I sold my 6.0 in favor of the duramax.. as for mileage.. HA.. the duramax gets twice as better mileage than my 6.0 ever did. Its a good trade and if you think the 6.0 could pull wait until you hook the Duramax to it.

I must say, that I am impressed with the amount of money I got my 2005 C4500 with 4X4 all for $34,000. Now, if there is only a way to get it to make as much power as my old 99 F-350, I'd be a happy camper. Seems like the 2005 Duramax is very sensitive to change. Throws codes if you modify anything that will make it breath better. Seems to need the backpressure? And almost $900 for a chip!!! I about had a heart attack when I shelled out a tad over $600 for a DI 4 position chip for my PSD.
Over all, I am happy with the new trucks braking ability and it is really closer to what I actually needed with a 40' Carriage 5th wheel. AND....I can't even touch a 4X4 ton diesel truck for anywhere close to the amount I bought this one for. Plus it just looks too cool.

scguy, just walk away, don't drive one whatever you do! :D
:joke: I drove a buddy's 6.0 after I had my Duramax for a few weeks, almost got my a$$ nailed merging into traffic due to the difference in power. The Duramax will get considerably better mileage than the 6.0. Now is a good time to buy! JJ :)
