heres what I have: 1994 6.5 TD, new clutch and flywheel, GM remanned NV4500, and a very rat roddish 1967 long bed 1/2 ton chevy. I'm thinking a set of 3.08 gears, straight pipe, mechanical IP swap. I will give the truck a once over on the suspension and vacuum the mouse turds out of it and commence to driving the wheels off of it. I think I'll redrill it to 8 on 6.5" and use a set of the 01- up dmax aluminum wheels with 235/85/16s and lower it enough to close any fender gap up. this truck has been sitting in my pasture for 9 years now just waiting for something. this has got to be it. After the success I've had with my one ton dually, I'm a full time 6.5 lover. So whos gonna give me the moral support??

I've thought about that same swap for a long time. I just don't have the budget or the space to pull it off. Post up some pics of the truck when you get the chance. I drove a 69 chevy stepside to high school. I'll always regret getting rid of that truck............

There was an article in maxxTorque a few years back on a project that put a 6.2 in a '72 longbed.

Can't recall w/ certainty that's still the same body style, but think it was. If so, there might be some tips or how issues were resolved, etc., in that article.

DO IT! From the looks of it you have enough support to begin.

Do it!

I swapped a '94 6.5/4L80E into my truck a few years ago. I left it computer controlled though, the wiring wasn't nearly as bad as one would think when swapping the entire harness, instrument cluster and fuel system from the donor truck in.

DON'T DO IT! You don't have:

1) the time
2) the money
3) the heart
4) the balls

How are you doing so far?:D

Sounds like a plan let me know how it turns out I have a 68 thats been tubbed and has a narrowed rear diff and DUELLS. There was a 93 with a 6.2 parked across the pasture from it but unfortunatly the moonlight wasn't romantic enuf for the project to do it itself.

From personal experience in fitting stuff together that wasnt originally designed to be there, go for it. Thats what a welder and a hammer is for.

back to the top here.... Haven't made any actual progress on this project yet. Having trouble finding a mechanical IP to swap on this that I can afford. Is there a way to modify the PMD pump for mecanical injection? Or should I think about making what I have work? How far away is a 6.2 pump from working? I have a good IP from an 84 suburban laying around. I want to do this project on little to no budget.

Don't see why the 6.2 pump wouldn't work..... May just have to turn it up a little bit..

thats the best part of projects like this. THere's no time limit! Just sit on it and wait for the right parts at the right price. I say do the project though. I think it would look killer when done. Don't know if you mentioned this or not, is it a 4X4?
