: LT and SLT?
rickstruck 06-18-2005, 09:45 AM Hi guys,
What are the differences between the LT and SLT packages on say an '03 or '04 1500 Z71 EC? I know that the LT includes leather seats and some power options but what does the SLT package include that makes the difference? Thanks, Rick
TheBac 06-18-2005, 12:30 PM Should be the same packages give or take. GMC just likes putting the "S" in front to distance it's trucks from Chevys. It's just with GMC you may PAY more for it, it seems.
IIRC, GMC's will sometimes come with a few more features standard.

polar_bear 06-18-2005, 04:16 PM Oddly, the Chevy LT has some things standard that were optional on the GMC SLT. the Chev came with heated/memory power everything, the GMC SLT was simply Leather interior, with menu-ordering for the rest of the stuff (like heated memory seats, etc).
TheBac 06-18-2005, 04:26 PM Ok...it was the other way around. But thats how they get you to pay more for the GMC.
DURAtotheMAX 06-18-2005, 07:43 PM Heres the translation between Chevy/GMC trim levels...
CHEVY GMC
(base) SL
LS SLE
LT SLT
Im pretty sure SLT and LT are identical...regardless of make, they are both called the "1SC" package on the build sheet. The 1SC package automatically includes (off the top of my head) OnStar, Leather, heated front seats, memory driver seat, steering wheel controls, Bose stereo with 6 disc in dash changer, auto climate control, power folding mirrors, 10 way adjustable seats...
Those options are *locked* into the 1SC group. For example, you cant get an SLT/LT without leather...
The only things that are exclusive to the SLT's/LT's is heated seats, memory seat, and 10 way power adjustable front seats. You CANT get those on any other trim level.
Everything else that comes standard with the 1SC package can be manually added to an LS/SLE (RPO code 1SB) truck...it would just be pointless tho because for like 800 dollars more you can get a 1SC (LT/SLT) truck with 10 way heated memory front seats. The only thing that is not standard in ANY trim level (SLT/LT included) is XM radio (U2K), RSE (U42), and sunroof (CF5). Im pretty sure all those RPO's are correct..thats just off the top of my head tho.
Someone correct me if im wrong, but I am 99% positive thats how the trim level optioning works with GM trucks/SUV's.

DURAtotheMAX 06-18-2005, 07:44 PM ahh formatting got messed up....
(base)----> SL
LS--------> SLE
LT--------> SLT
DURAtotheMAX 06-18-2005, 07:48 PM I think the difference is in standard features on the MID-level trim levels (1SB packages)
Like for example, a Chevy LS comes with a few less options standard than the GMC SLE
However, as far as I know, the top of the line packages are indentical.

polar_bear 06-18-2005, 08:06 PM Yep- just to confuse the issue, a 1SD GMC co-relates to a 1SC in a Chevy. Why make it simple?:D Up until '04, the packages actually didn't parallel at all.
DURAtotheMAX 06-18-2005, 08:22 PM Ahhh!! Never even knew there was such thing as a 1SD package...I guess I just assumed they were exactly identical (SLT and LT) because 99% of the SLT's and LT's I have seen have the same options. Looking at the GMC website, for the trucks, packaging/options are identical to Chevy...but in the SUV's, it gets wacky...for example on the Yukon...a "1SC SLT" kinda compares to something in between a Chevy LS and LT Tahoe. And the Yukon "1SD SLT" is exactly like a Chevy Tahoe LT. Thanks a lot GM. I thought having 50 part numbers for more or less the same "object" were confusing enough (one thing that comes to mind is the 8 "different" Bose LUX amps and the 5 "different" TNR's)...haha
Thanks for clearing that up and confirming that GM is infact trying to make us go crazy with some of these things!

polar_bear 06-20-2005, 01:40 PM Just wait until you see the '06 packages- oy veh!:eek:
DURAtotheMAX 06-20-2005, 03:44 PM are they changing it??? I really hope not. I like the names for the current packages now!! LS, LT. Two letters. Plain and simple and "authorative". None of this "XLST Super Luxury Extra Awesome Edition" junk that some other cars/trucks have. I love the way the Black/gold LT badges look...and it would just look stupid with a third letter or something.
BTW..I know LT stands for Luxury Touring...anyone know what LS stands for?

polar_bear 06-20-2005, 04:22 PM Nope- waaay too easy. The "base" truck became the "LS," and there's three LT packages, plus the W/T.:mad: At least the Z/71 became a free-flow option again...after two years of explaining to people why they couldn't get a LT with a Z71.
DURAtotheMAX 06-20-2005, 06:14 PM Doesnt the "base" model have the "Silverado" badge right where the LS badge would be?? I think im just going to forget the issue...its making my head spin!!
