Hello everyone,
I am in the market for a 2500HD and am actually going to look at one tomorrow morning. I guess that I am looking more for some opinions on whether I am getting an okay deal or not. The truck is a crew cab short box 4x4. Leather interior, onstar, stuff like that. Truck has 78000 miles on it. ignoring any final haggling, the truck will come out to $27,750 out the door. I have done some searching on this forum and know to look for 5th wheel attachments, bungs on the exhaust manifolds stuff like that. Is there any other tips? How can I tell if there has been a programmer on it? I just want to find something unmolested.
Any help would be appreciated greatly!
Thanks,
Jeff

Get the VIN, & post it in the "VIN check requests" section. One of the Techs here can get you the warranty history of the truck.
Good luck & :welcome2:.

I moved this to the right section. The other is for more tuners and programming related information. Thanks
I would think with the low prices on the new trucks right now, there would be a lot of decent trade ins starting to show up. Either way, I think the price is a bit high. I would be looking at 25k

that price doesn't sound bad, especially if it is the out the door price for a fully loaded truck. The previous owner looks to put about 25,000 miles a year on the truck which isn't bad, that is about what I put on mine. With that kind of mileage and the age of te truck I would doubt it having been chipped, though it might have been. If you don't see any signs of a cold air system, any additional gauges, a high flow exhaust, then it is pretty safe to say that it probably hasn't been chipped. Be careful about the gooseneck, just because if it has one doesn't mean that the truck has been abused. These trucks are made to tow and haul, and the gooseneck is just a tool of the trade. If you aren't wanting a gooseneck then don't be affraid to get a truck with one just because you think it may ragged, it probably isn't and the truck was built for it.

How do I get to the vin check request section?
Scroll to the very top of this page. You will see a picture of two trucks and the site title, "The Diesel Place". Click on the picture. This will take you to the home page for the site.
The home page lists all the topic areas. Scroll down the list about 3/4 of the way down till reaching a subject area titled "Official GM Information". This subject area has four topic choices. Click on the first one, titled "VIN Check Requests". That should get you there.

Hey I apreciate all the responses! I Test drove the truck this past weekend and bought it. So far I am very happy with it. I am used to driving around a heads and Cam impala SS so I am now learning to appreciate the truck more. Now I just have to stay away from the drag strip!
Thanks,
Jeff
