Just wondering, what's the worst plugged fuel filter you have come across?

Today I had two Dmaxs in the shop with pretty badly plugged filters. One was a C4500 cube van that was pulling 15 inches of vacuum on the supply test port at idle, and 20 inches at 2000 rpm.

The other was a K2500 pulling 20 inches of vacuum at idle. I didn't even bother to rev this one up to see the higher reading.

Both had about 30,000 miles on them, and a complaint of "lacks power-tops out at 20 mph".

They both had a code of "low fuel rail pressure"...don't remember the PXXXX number.

Just wondering how many you see like this? Both vehicles had the original fuel filters on when they came into the shop. I might cut one open out of curiosity.

A little on ,off topic ....

At what "low fuel rail pressure " will set a SES ??

Mackin, I'll see if I can stir up that particular trouble code and read the description of "conditions for setting the code".

If it gives a minimum fuel rail pressure limit to set the code, I'll post the specs.

Thanks for looking! Have you or anyone else seen a filter plug bad enough to pull 20+inches of vacuum?

20 inches of vacuum is a pretty conciderable amount of vacuum!!!
