I am curious to know the advantages/disadvantages to using marine injectors. I run diesel,B5 and 100% veg oil.

Use the search function.

You'll find all the information you'll ever need to know on Marine injectors.

from what i understand, Marine injectors/nozzles are only meant to be used with a Marine spec Injection Pump. the only Marine pumps out there are DB2 mechanical pumps, like the Db2831-4974 (250 hp) pump. Even then, I don't think they make more power, they are just better matched to the Marine IP.

I have a set of Marine nozzles, that I only bought just to use with my soon to be acquired Db2 Marine IP. otherwise you are just wasting your money.

A set of new Standard Bosch injectors are the best way to go for all 6.5 turbo Diesel's in need of a set.

I've done a bit of reading on the subject and from what I gather, marine injectors are better at controlling fuel at higher rpm. That said, I certainly haven't done enough research to be an expert. You'll hear a lot of people on here who say not to run them since Bill Heath doesn't recommend them anymore - and thats the only reason they can give you. I like Bill's stuff, but I don't take his word for the end all answer.

No, there is a post by DieselPro, our resident expert in IP and injector. He did the study on the amount of fuel injected. Marine Injector does not give negligible more amount of fuel injected into the engine. It is in the FAQ or in a recent thread about injector.

From pop pressure viewpoint, it gives a little bit more pop pressure. Which may potentially help in the performance but at the cost of more engine noise.

It is not because Bill Heath said so. Heath sells his marine version of Bosch for almost $300 more, so he want to sell it also.

I tell you guys, we probably have one of the most extensive library of FAQ about 6.5L T/D. Please search before asking.

I have been in the Toyota, Nissan, even the GM gasser forum. None of them are as extensive.

Agreed. Lets use the FAQs, since we have them available to us. Some of us older members remember when the FAQs were removed after the sale of the site a few years back. The general 6.5 population panicked and the FAQs were re-stuck to the top of the forum page.

Let not take them for granted guys.

What do you mean no? Of course they don't add any fuel - the IP controls the amount of fuel injected. I never said anything about that.

The only thing I meant from my statement was that in the past 4-5 months I've seen a lot more "well I called Bill and he didn't recommend them for my setup so thats why I'm not running them". I'd rather do my own research and figure out for myself. Some people don't and thats fine too.

Perhaps Bill's profit margin is higher on regular injectors than the marine injectors? I'm not saying thats the case or that Bill doesn't know what he's talking about (like I said, I've always been a fan of his stuff), but you can't simply say that since they cost X dollars more, he has more of an incentive to sell them.

I run them and they've treated me fine, just my .02. :)

Probably a good idea unless you can find the marine injectors for the same price.

I'm planning putting together a WVO kit sometime this spring - mind if I shoot you some questions about how you filter/dewater and about your setup when the time comes?
