Hey yall i just found out an interesting thing about the ally. I have a friend who is a mechanic at the local allison service center, i asked him about how my tuner would affect the longevity of my trans. I drive it like a truck but i never beat on it. I want to make it last. He tells me that the ally 1000 is a very tough trans and will usually outlast the d-max in stock form no matter how you drive it because its been perfectly matched to the torque curve of the stock d-max and learns its shift pattern based on the stock power output. But with any increase in horsepower no matter how hard it trys to learn it is baseing its next shift off of stock torque curve so even when you baby the truck the clutches slip a little bit. And a ton when you hammer on it. So even the smallest power increase will decrease the life of your trans. Or at least thats what he told me.

That is pretty the way it is said by many here too. Designed to last a normal spec life as stock.
