If you go with no cat you will most likely set codes. The solution is to leave the cat in place or buy a "Finger stick" as this will keep the codes from popping on. You can see our exhaust on our web site. For a complete kit front pipe and all it's less than $700 and for a cat back it's less than $500. We have the quietest system on the market so if your looking for a noise increase we would not be your best choice. If you have any questions feel free to give us a call.

I'm looking to keep my EGT's down. Will doing a cat back system be enough?
I tow a 7000 lb fifth wheel and my EGT's hit 1350 first time towing with the Edge System.
Thanks

You should see about 100 - 150 drop when pulling with a catback. You might also look at your air filter to make sure it's not dirty as this will also run EGT's up. EGT's are dependant on a lot of conditions and I have seen a stock unmodified LLY run upto 1400 deg pulling a full load in the summer heat. I personally like to keep the EGT at or below 1300 max when towing.

henmax,

You can do it all but unless you get Fingers EGR fix you'll get an SES light. So you can get a cat back and try it and see if that gets you enough EGT drop, if not get the Finger and the cat test pipe for off road and racing and drop the max EGT possible. That's one of the big advantages of the MBRP system the cat test piep bolts in and out, no clamps to make changint it a real bear to do. Give us a call if you have any questions, we have all the MBRP singles and duals in aluminized, 409 and 304 stainless in stock for you.

I think all the manufactures front pipe just bolt in and out so it the same for everyone I believe, at least I know TTS, Banks. Summit, MBRPand ATS are this way. Do a search on Finger stick here on the site or just PM Fingers here and he can set you up with a stick.

henmax,

I think it's a 20.00 bill thru Pay Pal but check with Fingers to make sure.

I just bought a 2005 2500HD Monday, and ordered the Edge Juice Attitude kit for it and also want to know what exhaust to run, I'm leaving the cat no matter what, but I just want to know a good brand of muffler and pipes to go with.

If you want to keep the cat (like I did) HOG Performance makes a complete kit that comes with short 4" pipes that you can weld to the cat and have a true 4" sysytem and still have the cat.

I'm looking at the Bully Dog stainless steel cat back exhaust, doesn't say what size it is but I'm pretty sure its 4 inch. Maybe its weld on but if it is that is not a problem. Thanks for the info. How much was that HOG kit by the way?

Here's is HOG's web site:

http://www.hogperformance.com/

There system for the LLY, made with 304 stainless and keeps the cat, is $899.

If you keep the cat, just go to your local muffler shop and have them cut out the muffler and weld in a strait pipe, and ask for them to weld on a chrome exhaust tip. This is exactly what im doing friday! :grd: . The cat will act as a Muffler itself and kill sound so there is no need for a real muffler. With the stock frontpipe and cat, the extra 1/2" in the rest of the pipe wont matter, just get rid of the restrictive stock muffler. This will save you a bundle of money. If you would like more info on this feal free to PM me on friday when i get this done. good luck

ChevyManSC,

You can also go with the MBRP systems, they have a built in 4 bolt flange that allows you to bolt the cat in as designed by GM. That way you haven't cut it up and can keep it stock. The factory cats are VERY expensive, be sure before you cut it up to fit into a system. The MBRP systems are availabel in aluminized, 409 and 304 stainless, and in single and duals too! Call us if you have any questions etc, we'll be glad to help you.
