Ive done research between ssdiesel and heath performance computers, anyone used either of these? Will i notice any power from a truck with many upgrades other than a stock computer?

Heath all the way. SSD's is just a rebadged Wester's Garage reflash.

Heath's tunes are much better IMO, but i'm biased of course. :p:

I am a Heath believer. I've had two of their tunes and they rock! A very good investment for an immediate kick in the pants.

I went with Heath reflash along with the Turbo master. I'm very happy with the performance that these mods provided.

How do these tunes affect fuel mileage (both loaded and unloaded)? I'm not really interested in increasing power, unless it just happen to accomany an increase in fuel milage. If it makes a difference, I am talking about an L65 TD in '97 K2500. I am comfortable with the power the truck has, I am more interested in maximizing fuel mileage and engine life so I don't want to make any changes that would hurt either of those.

SSDiesel did a power tune for my 95' dump in my garage and I'm very pleased with it. All I have is an intake, 4" exhaust and that tune and I get 12-13 MPG. That may not sound great with someone with a pickup but mind you this truck weighs in at 9,100lbs and hauls 6ton while towing a 10,000lb. excavator daily. I'm sure the rear end ratio is different then that of a pickup also. My mileage has been the same for the last year consistently with or without towing the trailer with machine. I don't know what it would do empty on the highway; its never been there (if the trucks empty I make no money :D lol).

Oh, and I can't speak for other shops out there but the folks at SSDiesel did a great job helping us get all our 6.5 trucks running up to par. Their service was great, I have no complaints! :)

DID I say stupid?,,, No I didn't! it's just if you had done your research as your post said,, you would have figured it out, that the main reason you DO a chip Is for HP/tourqe increases, lower egt's, ect. to which you will see the most gains from,, along with the many upgrades other than a stock computer. Also that most everyone here that has one, has it listed in their Sig.

Im running the GL4 with the vac system right now, what was the difference with the TM that made it come to life?

I am one of the few here running the KENNEDY computer. The rev limiter is still in its stock range. Idk about speed limiter I am not stupid enough to go over 100 mph "yet" lol. But my mileage is the same as it twas in the beginning. So thats ~11.5 to 12 mpg's. Other wise I gots tonnes of power gain.. Due to the size of my truck my 0-60 is still really high but i know i am packing about 28-40 hp more. So I am happy.

I need to call John tomorrow and ask him about higher hp tunes and ask if he can change shift patterns (which would be cool). And just ask a few other questions...

You wouldn't have liked my normal answer much, I would have suggested you to:

Read the FAQs

Use the Search Function in the FAQs

Search is your best friend. Can never learn enough about the truck you rely on. I still find out new stuff on my truck all the time!

I have Heaths GLE tune (economy)... really wish I had gone with their GL4 program.

Is that becuase the tune didn't really gain much in the way of fuel economy?

No, it was more because for the price of it, it didn't make a big enough difference. I would have liked to have performance in the chip too. Just be easy on the fuel pedal and should be good on fuel.
