Looked at 2500's & 3500's. Priced legit and extremely tempting to say the least.

LT For 40533.15 (not including 3,000 rebate)
Trade 23000 on a 2002 2500HD 4x4 with 27,600 mi.

Total loan -- 16,271.98 (including 3,000 rebate).

What do you guys think?

This thing is legit -- however, I think they are getting me on the trade in. What do you all think about 23,000 for the above truck?

Thanks,
Seth

That's correct on your trade. Why would you get rid of it with such low mileage IMHO keep your truck it's almost broken in. dave

Bottom line is what do you think? Do you want the new truck? I just traded a 2001 HD with 50K on it and got $16,500 CDN.

Well that's the thing.

I don't NEED a new truck. However, that new deal seems so enticing. Is it smart is the question? If I had access to someones GM ID in the future would it be just as good as this one is 2 years from now.

I would say that the offer for your truck is low, Seth.
But, let me ask you this question...
You don't even have 30K on your truck that you're driving right now..
Why trade? Or are you wanting to get a new vehicle for the warranty aspects?
Personally, I think the 02 trucks were built better than what they are producing now....(the new trucks don't have simple things like an underhood lamp, light in the glovebox, etc)
That said, you might try selling your truck outright and buying new out the door from your dealer if you want a "brand new" truck.

You are so right -- I can't do this. They almost got me, but I refuse to sell my truck for under 25k. If they stepped up to the plate and gave me 25k I would do it.

Seth,
I went to the dealer here and he offered me 23k also on my 02 with 65k miles.
Maybe they are going by the year, not the mileage.
I decided that I would just keep mine unless they are willing to give me 27 for it.
I don't need a new one no matter how enticing the deal appears. IMO, the 02 was the best year for these pickups anyway.
Just my .02

I agree -- it was the last year of the sweet hood/lights etc...

isnt the whole reason for owning a diesel for longevity ? for most anyway ? these deals will be here for time to come. GM is doing this to see what the market will stand for pricing. high MSRP and much lower selling price will dictate market price.........

You got a better trade price than they gave me.
'04 GMC 2500 HD ex.cab 4x4 6.0 11k miles.
Same dealer I got it from last Aug. said he'd give me $21k for it.
Told him to call me if decides he can give me at least trade-in value for it.

Talked myself out of trading in a year old truck pretty quick.
But man, do I ever miss the diesel:(

Also, salesman friend told me this whole promotion is cause '06 supposed to have lower MSRP's. '07 supposed to be even lower. Idea is to phase-out the rebates and inflated stickers.
Guess not too many people going to want a year old leftover when the '06 has a lower sticker.
But, believe it when I see it. He also suggested I wait a couple years to trade.

Mackey,
I just made your deal about 3 weeks ago. Traded in a 6 mo old '04 6.0 Chev gasser cclb 4x4 with a 5 spd & 9k miles and got $25k for it on trade. I only paid $24k for it last Dec when I bought it new. Felt that was a pretty good trade for 9k miles of driving (granted, I lost the Linex liner & PYO wheels I bought from a fellow DP member, but still a pretty good deal). We started at $21k and I got up, thanked him, and left. Caught me before I got in my truck and we quickly closed the deal.
Picked up my '03 3500 Dually D/A CCLB w/ 24k miles for $29k. Only financed $4k difference. Pay that off in a year, then its "MOD" time.

I really think he wanted to move the dually since he likely didn't have many buyers who actually liked rubber mats and manual windows. Good luck!
