Greetings all,

I am looking at seeing the dealer about a new IP (still under warranty) and like anyone who has done battle with such a foe I am prepping for the event. I came across this post courtesy of Turbine Doc: http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=40783 Excellent information but one question about the plastic screen in his last picture. I have had the truck for years, changed the fuel filter more times then I care to remember and have never seen such a screen. Will someone please put my mind at ease and tell me that these little beauties come pre-installed in the filers. If not, anyone have a Part# for a new one? I have checked around and not even compnine.com with their exploded diagrams lists such a thing.

Thanks

It is supposed to be wedged on the middle post in the fuel filter housing. No, it does not come with the filter. It is a stanadyne item so you may need to find it at stanadyne / fuel shop. It should in the FAQ or Part point somewhere for part no.

Here is a link to the part. http://www.btlrus.com/99717B.pdf
The GM filter housing is at the bottom of the page. The Stanadyne part # is 29244. Description: cylindrical nylon mesh screen inside filter base - GM Top Load
You will probably have to contact a Stanadyne dealer for that screen;)

Mine does not have one & is well past any warranty. Other then for the posters concerns about GM denying a claim, is there any need for one?

Said to be a "last ditch" saver in case filter comes apart & pieces decide to head for the pump.

Is there a screen on the pump inlet also?

Believe so .That would make the filter screen almost last ditch .
