What's up everyone,

Yesturday I went and picked up my new 05' 2500HD Silverado 4WD Crew Cab, Long Bed, Duramax/Allison, Silver/Birch and I could not be more pleased.

Here is some info for those of you who are looking into taking advantage of this offer.

The MSRP on the truck we got was $45,763 before Tax/License/Doc.

The sales manager was a really cool guy who we talked to for quite a while and he showed us their complete pricing print out on this truck, which showed MSRP, then showed Invoice, then showed Employee Discount Price. The employee discount price on this truck was $35,700, with the discount being to $38,700 and then the $3000 National rebate which was part of the total discount. I had a few of the LT options missing (heated seats, passenger power seats, ect...), which is why the price was $35,700 instead of $37,700 for the full LT package with this truck.

You pay taxes depending on your location, but you end up paying taxes on the $38,700 price, because you still have to pay taxes on a rebate. Although that was only like an extra 100-200 houndred dollars so in the scheme of things it didn't mean anything.

All in all, we knocked off about $10,000 off the MSRP, and with these kind of trucks, you will never see them go below invoice which was over $41,000 on this one in particular.

So for those of you doubting the deal, rest easy, but make sure to print off the employee discount price off the chevrolet/gmc website on the particular truck you are looking at, just in case you get a dishonest dealer.

I bought mine down in southern california and could not be happier with the dealership we went to. So if anyone needs a good southern california chevy contact, just shoot over a private message.

Congrats SDKid21!! I'm glad you stuck with it and found you one! You're right, these deals are just suweet! :D

I see Dodge is trying a new ad campaign out west and is saying they are truly the cheapest, when you compare bottom line. But the ads themselves are quite confusing (IMO) since you don't know what their price is, just what they are compared to others. Now that's what I call a marketing scam...!

Again, good luck with your new ride -- we love ours!

I will be waiting for the next major redesign before trading in. There will always be big offers on new vehicles, so I ain't worried about that. I want the 6 speed allison proven, a sunroof, and DVD/satellite in-dash navigation. Maybe even a new frame/body. So far there isn't a big reason to go to an 06 and for sure not an 05.

For now though I think the current design is the best of whats out there currently (04-05-06 diesels).

I heard a Ford advertisement that they're paying their employees $1000 to give their employee discounts to others. Even with the employee discount, there still must be plenty of profits.

Yeah, we almost bought an '05 Ford on X-plan, the A-plan price (employee) was a grand or so less, then you throw in their $2.5k rebate and the GM deal is still thousands less. Of course there is the ride that the ford 350 has... oh and it does have some capacity advantages too ... And the Torqueshift isn't having temp or power handling problems the Alli is having... (but then they doooo have that 6.0...:( )

but I digress... WE bought the Chevy, and aside from the stiff-as-a-friggin-board-ride, it's got GREAT build quality and is a GREAT value with the sale GM has going. Oh, and did I mention those tunes??! :D

Anyway, I owe one of the folks on your board the thanks for getting us to consider the Dmax instead of the Ford (he frequents the main Ford site I was on).

So Anyway*2: count me as another proud new owner! :ro)

well heres my deal....bought my 2003 4x4 2500HD crew, duramax/allison, with 4"banks exhaust, Predatorv1.10, pro comp air intake, mostly dbadged, 16x9.5 axis regulators with 35's..... 6" Pro Comp lift kit, MX6 adjustable shocks. back in 02,LT w/ all options for about $37k, 9k off msrp.
traded it for an 04 excursion, traded it(the03 d/a) for 37500 against the EX. had it for about 4 months and downtraded it for an 05 F250 6.0.
Had experience with them both and am convinced that, depite the styling, The GM is the better product hands down, the torqueshift is weak feeling to the allison. the 6.0 is a higher revving powerplant, but is plagued with reflashes. I am happy to be back in the 05 Duramax, now its time to mod it to my likeness, it started the day i picked it up. I traded the F250 for my LS CC SB dura/ Allison for a 6700$ difference, the employee discount did it for me but i did have to visit a few dealers to get the deal done. i dunno if the employee pricing is all that unnattainable (before this big deal)given a savvy customer and a dealer willing to part with inventory for slightly less profit margins though.
