If it's not one thing it's another. I got in the blazer to move it from behind dads car and i'm greeted with water dripping from the roof near the front metal trim.:mad:

A closer look shows rust on the outside of the truck above the windshield. How often do these trucks rot out around the windshield? And can this be fixed? I have glass coverage on my insurance and need a new windshield anyways(indent and crack in the glass).

My pickup leaked around the windshield on the passenger side and would soak the headliner. Replacing the windshield when it split solved that one, but there was rust around the windshield.

take out your windshield and inspect it, if its not rusted out knock off the rust with 80 grit paper, then finish sanding with 120, prime it and shoot it with gravel guard, just behind where the lip of the window sits, anyplace that shows paint with near match, if it is rusted throu, well... that is a much bigger job, probably involving some metal work and welding(removing the headliner etc) it can also be fixed with long strand fiberglass too...:D

I don't know about the least rusty truck in Canada. Have you ever been to Vancouver island and seen the trucks out there? You'd swear they were Califonia or Arizona vehicles. Here they salt from mid Nov to mid Apr. No vehicle has a chance.

That I can believe. I still think you guys are better off than out here. A buddy of mine who was from Saskatoon had an '87 LTD that was mint but he said that it got too cold to salt (salt doesn't work at a certain temp) and they mainly just sanded. I wish that was the case here. Some years they use so much salt they run out.

yea if they sanded stuff it would be great but no they gotta piss around with chemicals that are hard on the cars, and enviroment (like i really care about that)

boy oh boy was that windshield lip rusty. New windshield and gasket installed. The guy seemed to be rushing at the end. The new windshield where the antenna "button" is has a crack. It's a little half moon that starts and ends at the bottom of the windshield. If it spreads i'll just have them come out and put yet another one in.

Slightly off topic but what's the best way to speed up wipers? I've got a new wiper motor installed yet the wipers still go deathly slow all the time. What's the best lubricant for all the moving linkages that go from the wiper arms to the motor? Can't understand why they'd be slow otherwise. I've sprayed it all down w/ silicone spray already. Doesn't seem to help. If i run the washers the wipers will speed up. I didn't think the wiper motors were that weak that they could barely pull the wipers across a dry windshield.

Rubber on a dry windshield is a LOT of resistance. As soon as there's a liquid between the two, the resistance drops by nearly an order of magnitude. If you've got silicone grease on the linkages, and a new motor installed, you've got just about all you can do for it.

Why are you trying to use wipers on a dry windshield anyway??

Night and day difference between wipers on a dry and wet windshield.
What's an order of magnitude? is it ubiquitous or something?

Phantom swipe on a dry windshield. It's annoying. I need a delay wiper module that doesn't suffer from the phantom swipe. This damn one I found at the junkyard suffers form it really bad. I've had it "phantom" swipe as many as 14 times in a row. Yes the wipers were off at this time. Very annoying. At least the module was free.

Knowledge of the definition of 'an order of magnitude' is pretty ubiquitous, yes.
