Hi, I just bought an '05 Chevy CC D/A long bed 4x4. It's my first diesel vehicle, but next in a long line of Chevy trucks.

I've read a lot here and it's a great web site. My question is after reading about all the power you can make with these programmers/tuners, which one offers the best mpg improvement?

I primarily drive about 20K+ miles a year, mostly highway. I know there is a breakin period for the diesels but I'm hoping to see 20 mpg within a year or so. Would an Edge w/attitude or Bullydog Pup give me another 2-3 mpg if I kept it at the lower settings? I also do occasionaly tow my car on an open trailer to shows and the race track. And I do go to Home Depot and Lowe's a lot and get drywall and stuff. So it does get used as a truck.

any of the tuners will give you better mileage.. the trick is learning to not use the power you give the truck in order to get good mileage.. LOL Every truck has a sweet spot on the highway and from reading threads its in the 65-70mph range for best mileage. the mileage is going to differ on every truck due to driving styles not being the same.

Like braino said when you've been bitten by the power bug it's hard to keep your foot out of it. I do well on about the first 20miles of a tank and then all goes to hell in a handbasket after that. You may see better fuel economy if you are a disciplined person.

My sweet spot is from 55 to 65mph with my truck. Over 65mph the mileage starts the landslide downhill.

I got my 1970 Buick GS convertible that runs 11's if I want to go fast. I'm primarily looking to get the best mpg I can. I typically drive right around 70 mph on the highway and don't have a lead foot in the truck. The car IS a different story though.

My guess is that I'll probably end up doing an air box from K&N, someone's 4" turbo back exhaust (whichever is the quietest), EGT gauge and an Edge setup. Possibly the EZ as I don't want to have to start tearing into the transmission.

Try an S&B air box. I have had up to 1.5 mpg better with them. I really like the ez, but I really only saw a mileage improvement towing.
