Hey I am pretty new here but I have been looking around for awhile. But, my dad just picked up a 2009 GMC extended cab short bed 2wd and we have plans for lowering it to make it level and be able to fit 20-22's under it with best ride and look possible.

Any suggestions, comments, or pictures are very welcome!

Thanks,
Tom

A few people on this site have lowered there trucks. I'd go with a 3/5 DJM kit. You can do a 6/8 kit as well being a 2wd, but that's low and requires a C-notch. Do some searching and you will find pictures. Heres also a link to some trucks that are lowered with info.

Myself and another member just did the 6/8 drop on our 2wd 2500HD trucks and it is awesome BUT you will find that 6' in the front is not enough and you may want to get a set of lowering keys too.

Thanks for the link! Do you know about how much the shock travel is limited? He had 2006 chevy 2wd lowered 2/4 with 20's and it road like a tank and he wants to get a decent ride still, so would the 3/5 be to much? It looks awesome btw

Thanks for the compliment.

Doestch has a shock that is 18' long and will compress to 12.5. The right side shock from bolt to bolt will measure 16' and the passenger side will be at 17. So the shock will be compressed some also they sell shock extenders cause there are the factory standard size 20' they make for the trucks as well.

Hope that makes sense. DJM also sells different size shocks for this application as well, just depends on how low you go.

bag it, then you'll ride like a caddy.

How do they do on the drag strip?

I had a 3/5 belltech. Stay away from the c-notch.

I never did like the idea of a c-notch for a daily driver

If it's done right, you shouldn't have any problems with a c-notch. I'm going to have mine boxed and stitch welded. Then its back to towing and hauling....

it all depends how much air youre runnin and wat kind of shocks. a bolt in c notch shouldnt be a problem at all. even a weld in, just make sure you know how to weld or have someone that is very good at it doin it. best site to look at airbag shit is www.ridetech.com (http://www.ridetech.com). they are pricely but you can not go wrong with their products....
