Has anyone seen these conversion kits or priced them?? I'm really interested in finding out what they cost. The price of 2wd Topkicks and Kodiaks are minimal compared to the 4x4 units so if the price is under $5000 it might be cost effective.

I called this other company that does 4x4 axles and transfer case for topkicks. He said that the whole deal cost 20,000 That was crazy...

i think it was www.marmon-herrington.com.. That transfercase that you have? Will that fit a kodiak 2wd transmission? Or is that another thread?

You would need to get a 4x4 tailhousing, then it should work. The 4x4's come with a 273 divorced though.

M-H makes the axles. That site link has my JERRV on it. Those axles are insane. Most of those 5-ton+ trucks run Cushman or A-M cases.

Running a regular case on a Kodiak would require one really long rear drive shaft!!

Tulsa Truck does great work. The trucks they do for the Military are top-notch.

Kyle, have you located a front axle? A divorced 273 is not that hard to find. There's a company in Arizona or New Mexico that carries them.

I'm not sure what you guys are looking for but I'm parting out a bus. It has 0 miles on it I just bought it for the Duramax and the Allison. I'm selling the Cushman transfer case and the Carraro rear end. I have them listed in the medium duty fourm. Parting Out Medium Duty Truck 0 miles. Let me know if this is something you are looking for.

gave up on that idea after so many peaple have mentiones cost from 15k to 28k to convert. If I can find a way to convert it for under 6k I will keep my truck
but thinking about selling

If you buy the transfercase that I have you dont need to change your tail shaft on your trans because the way it is hooked up on the bus it just uses a short drive shaft to connect the trans to the transfer case. I can sell you the hole front suspension off of the bus. The front GVW of the bus is 8000lbs. It's alot of work but I think I have everything you will need. I can send you pictures if needed.

That price is crazy... When I purchased my truck, they had an identical truck as mine that was 4x4. It was less than 10K more than my 2wd truck... Sometimes I wish I would have purchased that one instead...

I sure wish I could find a 4x4 that wasn't stupid high priced.

The 26K is pproabably if you walked off the street wanting to convert an existing truck> all parts at retail
The 10K is prob dealer cost +/-, just adding to new truck price

Has anyone ever done a complete frt and rear axle swap? like taking a 2wd and putting frt and rr axles from say a 2.5 or 5ton military truck? Or maybe even better a set of f106 axles from an older international? f106s had disc brakes and lockouts factory i know,as well as TONS of avail gear ratios.
ABS would be one of the few issues, and maybe speedo when in 4low.

And if the speed signal is coming from transmission, then there are so many hd transfer cases(divorce mount) that could be a possible install.

also, most bigger axles would be a 10lug semi pattern,so wheels are easier to source and more options.

just wondering,i know the fab work to install would be a little more, but the ruggedness and dependability would seem to be lots better than the factory stuff.

i have a few diff sets of axles in my posession i have been contemplating a conversion myself...someday.

also,to add....some axles could be setup to run 4wheel steering also....
now that would HAVE to be a trailer maneuvering dream come true for us guys with super long wheelbases.
