I just purchased a 2000 4wd silverado with a flatbed on the back. I was told it was a shortbed and (stupidly) took them at their word. It's a longbed. I already have the shortbed lined up for it and was wondering if any of you guys have ever cut down one of these to fit a short bed. I know it's done frequently with a 67-72 styled trucks, but haven't heard of anybody doing it on a new truck. Any help??? Thanks,..........Jerry

Ofset the cut from the top to the bottom of the frame rail, cut straight down for like 2 inches, cut horizontal for 4 inches and then cut another 2 inches straight down, that should take you all the way through it lol, or instead you can just but weld the two sections together and plate the inside.
Its not very hard to do , just gone be more work than you think, fuel lines are right in the frame rail youl have to drop the tank to get enough room to work, brakes lines also need to be shortened, driveshaft ofcourse also needs to be shorted or need to buy a short bed version.
Personally i would opt for just putting a long bed on it, they are not hard to find. but then i prefer the long beds anyway.
