Hey can injectors that have been used but with low mileage become gummed or stuck closed like gasoline fuel injectors. I was going to try switching the injectors out of a relativly low mileage 6.2(30,000) and put them in my 6.5 that runs rough(214,000 miles) just to see if it helped it and maybe even leave them there. I've read that the injectors are usually good for 100,000 miles for the 6.5 and if that is the case then the 6.2 injectors have quite a few miles left in them.

6.2L injectors are long body injectors and set at a lower opening pressure.

diesel injectors normally do not gum up to stick closed, but they can build up carbon around the orifii that can block the holes, making it spray improperly... i can't remember which type of injector tips are on the 6.2/6.5 idi injectors... i never really worked injectors on them..

6.2/6.5 injectors don't have holes like that to plug up, they're pintle style.

If they stick, they stick open and opening pressure goes to 0 and they look like a Super Soaker on a pop tester.

Your 6.2 injectors will work OK, they just won't last quite as long.

Take the injectors and have them pop tested. Some of the later 6.2 injectors are the same length as the 6.5 and will fit easily. Injectors will get gummed up as you say from sitting up. The diesel turns into a varnish of sorts and makes them stick. You can make a do- it-yourself pop tester made from a bottle jack.
