As the title says will this work? I ordered a set of new Late 80's 6.2 "long" injectors. I currently have 1990-1993 "short Injectors" But I put one in and the lines should still work no problem. Will this work?

Thanks

I believe that as long as the line length doesn't change it shouldn't be a problem. So as long as all the injectors are the same length you are fine

I had 6.2 longs in my blazer when i bought it. Swapped those out for a set of 6.5 shorts that a friend gave me. I just recently swapped them yet again for a brand new set of Bosch 6.2 longs.

In other words yes they will interchange. :p:

Ya they are all the same length and I am obviously not changing the "hard lines"

What do you guys use for replacement overflow lines? What tubing should I get? I want something without those Pain in the A** clips.

Do NOT get the Dorman return lines. They are total crap! 3 months and they were all rotted and leaking on my blazer.

I searched around a few towns and found Tygon fuel line. The clear yellow stuff you see on chainsaws and in some hardware stores. It's supposedly very sturdy stuff.

Here's a picture of my custom "made" return lines during my injector swap a week or two ago.

You can see them in the background of the photos.

I tried to find some of that today but it was strange every lawn mower chainsaw place was closed or out of business. I will hit the yellow pages in the am and hopefully have some luck.

Bring an old injector with you and an intact as possible piece of the old return lines. Make sure the Tygon fits very tight. This will remove the need for the return line clamps. My tygon lines needed to be "forced" on the first time with both hands and silicone lubricant on the hose ends. Now they slide over the return fitting and sort of "click" into place in the expanded area of the hose where the barb on the fitting sits.

One more thing...what about the copper washers? I guess I have to order new ones? What did you guys do?

Yes you need new copper washers. When I got mine, the copper washers came with the injectors. Most fuel injection shops should have them in stock.

Well mine didn't come with the injectors. Can I purchase copper washer locally that will work? They aren't anything super special are they?

Oops. I re-used them from another set of injectors i had kicking around. I've got a new set now, but no energy to pull all the injectors again. :p:

By That you Mean Just Flip Them Around Correct, Like a Gasket Sometimes If One Side Is Worn Out You Can Flip It & Re Use It Correct??

To anneal a copper washer grab the washer with an oil-free pair of pliers, and wipe any oil/grim off the copper washer. Heat the washer up to a dull red colour, then let it stand and cool. Don't get it too hot, so heat it up slow enough that you can watch the colour change.

slightly reddish tinge - this isn't hot enough to do anything
dull red - this is the temperature at which point re-organization of the crystals in the metal occur
cherry red - properly 'red', but somewhere less than orange
orangey-yellow - way further than you need to go
white-hot - its about to melt, stop!

Cheap enough to get the right stuff. Comes with the air cleaner gasket for the 6.2 NA as well.
