I have read most of the thread but still have a question. If I install this and solder all connections rather than use the wire taps, will I have to cut one of the wires to be able to remove the plate and take it into the dealer for repair work? Id rather solder than use wire taps.

From what I gathered, with the stick installed and the plate removed the maf might throw a code for too much air or something to that effect?

But on the other hand, the stick also works for guys with open exhaust and no egr block plate and has no problems.

Maybe I have answered my own question but Id rather hear it from the designer and users.

Thanks
Dave

I think the general consensus is to pull the plate and leave the stick in place for dealer work. With the stick wrapped up nicely in wire loom, it would be tough to identify something is "not normal". With the plate pulled, I am pretty sure it won't throw a code - try it.

Also, IIRC, the wire taps under the hood are not a good idea - they won't last. If you are concerned about undoing the stick install, you might look at the Chisuzu method of tapping the wires. See link below. It has worked well for me.

You should be able to pull the plate without codes. A clean install will keep the techs from seeing the stick and it is nearly invisible electrically.
