My wife's stepfather just bought a 2002 F250. Crew cab shortbox, 7.3 PSD, auto trans. He pulls a pretty subsantial 5th wheel around on occasion. I showed him the Juice/Attitude in my Duramax and he really likes that, but doesn't know about the price. I see on the edge site that level 5 adds about 90 rwhp to the 7.3. Can this power level be used (while not towing) on an otherwise stock truck, or will tranny upgrades be needed. What other options are available for the 7.3? I will be assisting with the install, so nothing that's too much of a pain. Also, how much power can this motor safely make? Reliability is also a large concern (He says this is why he didn't get the 6.0) Any help is apreciated. I drive a chevy, so I'm not really in the loop with the ford stuff.

how much power will that stock tranny take? Todd, I see that you have the j/a combo on your truck. Would you recommend this setup for the 7.3? My pops used to have a 7.3with a 70 hp tune that did well until the hydrolics in the clutch gave out. I was guessing that the stock auto tranny would take around 300 rwhp. Am I wrong? If the wifes stepdad goes with the j/a I will be setting it up. What is max safe egt, boost. Will the j/a for this motor defuel locked shifts, etc? Thanks for the help.

I have an edge evolution for 7.3 for sale if interested. Latest update. $300 obo. Traded my truck for the dmax, no longer needed. Also have an extra cam position sensor for $70 plus shipping.
I ran it on all 3 stages and it worked fine with stock trans. 60/80/100. EGTs were good on tow 60, race 80 were not bad but not for heavy towing, 100 was great around town and on flat ground or foothills, but big hills EGTS would get to around 1000 pretty easy and go as high as you wanted.
I have the Superchips1705 in my work truck, its a 7.3 also and it is a good programmer also.

I use a predator in our 7.3, it seems to work alright. We have also put stacks on it ti increase the exhaust flow. It is use in the pro street diesel pulls.....any suggestions to make it stronger??

I would put an extra tranny cooler on it to help keep the temps down. The 7.3 trannys are prolly getting pretty tired by now, if he is looking for mild pulling power just get a flash programmer. When those older tranny's get hot they don't last long at all.

Once you start doing the mods, it leads to something else and almost never ends. About $3,000 will cover the basics: Guages ($500), ATS ported Turbo housing ($500), Intake ($300), Exhaust ($300), Chip/programmer ($400), Additional Tranny Cooler ($150), Transgo Shift Kit ($200), Pre-pump Tank Kit ($250), use the rest for synthetic oil and tranny fluids. It will be a goin' machine that will be reliable and pull down the house.
