Okay for the last few weeks me serpentine belt was been chirping on and off. It did it two days in a row two weeks ago when we had a really cold spell, then it went away. It started to warm up and it started chirping again three days ago. Well yesterday I came home(belt chirping) and I could smell rubber coming from the engine compartment. i popped the hood very thing looked fine(belt tight). Well this morning I came back from the gym and could smell the burnt rubber again under the hood when I walked passed the front(belt was chirping). So I took it to the dealer today told them what was up and that I want a new serpentine belt. They looked at it and ordered a new belt.
Do you think the belt is the problem or is it something else.....maybe this is common. Its a 09 with 2004 miles

Mine does the same thing periodically, but without the rubber smell. When I took it to the dealer, they said it was the belt and it is a common problem. Said to clean the pullies off, because they might have dirt/sand from going to the desert.
I have yet to try a new belt, but will soon.

Sounds like a bad idler or tensioner pulley to me. Does it come and go with humidity? That seems to have an effect on the bearings.

Check, or have the dealer check the alignment of the Power Steering pulley; it is adjustable, and if not adjusted right, can cause the chirping sound.

Took the truck in today because the new belt came in. I told them to check the pulleys and idler. They "looked" everything over and the pulleys were fine and aligned. They put on the new belt. I drove home with the radio muted and didnt hear any chirping.
The lady and the service desk said that they have had other people come in saying the same thing. I guess there is a TSB on this issue.
Thanks for all your input. If its starts chirping again I will keep updating this thread incase this happens to any of you.
