It's held in with a snap ring. Loosen the front diff bolts (for some reason this helps) and wack the back side of the flange with a hammer. It'll pop right out.

Like I said before, loosen the ft diff bolts (I think there are 3) it always seem to help. Oh and loose the piece of wood.

i just changed the seals in mine last weekend, the driver side axle wouldnt budge on mine. had to take the diff apart and beat the axle out from the other side, it would be a fairly easy job if it would come right apart. i changed both seals and bearings, no leaks so far.

Ah, so it's on the floor. There is no secret, you must keep the diff stable and have a solid wack against the flange or if possible, from the inside through the carrier. Like I said, it's just a c-clip that holds it in.

BTW: I know it doesn't matter now, but all of this is much easier leaving the diff in the vehicle.

I took the carrier to the dealer and they charged me 10 bucks to get it out and said they have never had one that hard to get out

Test your 4wd. If you did the passenger shaft out without axle disassembly, odds are the thrust washer will be dislodged, preventing front axle engagement.

I took apart everything on the front end so i got the thrust washer on the axle and yes the four wheel drive works

not always. i have had good luck with tapping lightly in and out then giving it one good hard hit to get it out. seems to center the ring better. sometimes the ring gets bound up in the splines.
