I put a dmax in an 87 chevy and am using the old cast iron 205 t-case which has a cable driven speedo. I am using the gauges out of the 01 dmax donor truck and was wondering what the tooth count was on a 2wd alli as this is what the donor truck had in it. I was hoping that I could fab a new speed sensor from the alli to read my gear teeth in my old t-case. Anyone have any ideas? No more cummins conversions-:t ):h
Thanks for any replies

The tone wheel on a 2WD Allison has 40 teeth. Good luck!

If you are using the gauges from the donor truck, why would you need to fab up any kind of speed sensor? The output speed sensor on the 1000 series gives you the signal you need. Unless you really need to know how fast you are going when in 4lo, but all you'd have to do is divide by 1.92, because that is the ratio of the NP205.

If you really need the speed sensor signal output, the Allison TCM broadcasts this over a few wires to the DMAX ECM. Through J1850 serial comm.. and IIRC with a standard gm tach signal. 40 pulse per rev.
