I was wondering if you would get any different numbers between the drivers side manifold and the Passenger side? I have much better access to the drivers side.

Thanks

Yes you would get diff #'s. Instead, You'll need to pull the fender liner from the Pass fender, ( only about 14 13mm bolts, a few cuss words, and some twisting will have it out in no time.) to get a good shot at the Ex manifold. On it you will see a little Square buldge in the casting, This is the Best spot to put that probe as it is After the turbo, and will give you the Exact temp reading your after, for safetys sake.

Do what he said ^^ or you can go post turbo. I wouldn't go to the drivers side as it will only read what is coming out of half the engine.. not the entire system.

Thats what I thought, thanks guys.

Right out of the driver side manifold is the most accurate you're going to get with one gauge and one probe to what the engine is seeing. The common method of going into the passenger manifold provides half of the exhaust straight out of the engine and half of it cooled via the crossover and distance traveled. No advantage to passenger side, unless you call a PITA to install and less accurate numbers an advantage. It will see all cylinders, but at the price of skewed numbers and the point of seeing all cylinders is kinda negated, since it won't really tell you anything more. Normally all cylinders should be very close to each other. Getting an accurate number from only the driver side will give you a good idea of an accurate number on the passenger side. Too truely see each cylinder, you're going to need eight gauges.

so driver side is best?

Have you tested that theory yet?

so driver side is best?

Any place will work, really. For one gauge though, yes.

Have you tested that theory yet?

I don't have to, my sources already have.

so what kind of temp difference are we talking about from each side?

so what kind of temp difference are we talking about from each side?

Minimal, if even noticable, provided everything is in good condition and operating correctly.

Never thought about the crossover cool down. Thanks RC.

tried to take the fender off and one bolt was stuck and just spinning so I just installed the guages , pod and the lighting. Boost Gueage it in. Pretty happy with the Vac. system making 10-11psi. I was looking to tap on the top of the pas. manifold where it is flat. anyone done that?
