: What is "level"?

Maybe a dumb question but earlier I posted that I squeezed in 2 1/4 qts of oil in my front diff due to the angle of my driveway. So I put the truck partially on the street and got it on the front ramps so the truck is "level" (I put a contractors level on the bed rail to verify). Opened the fill plug, and sure enough, oil drains out.

My current question is: The Tcase and front diff fill procedure specifies fill to the bottom of the fill plug. Is this done with the truck "level", or with the natural rake of the truck (nose down) from the factory? Or does it not matter (close enough)? I.E. Do the dealers lift the truck on a frame hoist like a tire shop, or a drive on hoist under the tires? I'm too darn big to crawl under the chev without lifting it up some - hence my Question.

Thanks!

“Level” is how the truck sits from the factory when all four wheels are on a level surface. How much “off level” you can get away with I am sure is open for debate.

When I worked on the line in 45 the differential had oil in it when we installed it.The differential on my 03 was real low when I got it., not even close to the drain hole.
