Long story, minor emergency...I'm in the middle of doing a "Hoots" transmission service, just installed a TransGo Jr. and need to know if I can put the trans in "fast learn" with my PPE unit.

I've never noticed anything when using the PPE that'd indicate I can, but have seen vague references to it here. I was going to take it to a dealer tomorrow, but have an emergency of sorts, and REALLY need the truck on the road in the morning.

Anyone?

You can't reset TAPS, but you can put the transmission into Adaptive Fast Learn. Go to diagnostic options, then click on Reset Auto Trans. If you need to clear a TAP cell, you'll need EFILive or a Tech II.

Ah, I suppose I've revealed my ignorance...

Will doing that be sufficient? Should I just do that and then follow the suggested re-learn procedure?

Using the reset trans option will probably be enough. I installed a transgo jr and did nothing and the trans learned fine. When I installed my PPE tranny I reset the trans with the PPE programer and within a day or two it was shifting perfectly.

As long as you don't have any jarring shifts, use the PPE to put it into fast learn, and let it do its job. If you're still having a bad shift, hook a Tech II to the TAP cell cleared.
