: Orange County BIO source found?

Looks like I may have found a BIO source. Says he gets $3.50 a gallon for B100 which sounds a little high to me. Supposed to meet up and get some on Monday or Tuesday along with more info. Anyone have any specific questions I should ask him? Will be mixing it to just about a B15 ratio (5 gallons bio, 29 gallons fossil).

Same source says that ARCO currently meets the 2006(?) emission standards for Diesel fuel. Any truth to that?

Who?

If you are buying it in drums, and mixing it only to B15, 3.50 aint bad. Holy crap, a gallon of shell DFA costs 9 bucks...........

It will be kinda like a cheap, good additive.

Just make sure you store it correctly, and that you run thorugh it in a reasonable timeframe.

But 3.50 is kinda steep. I am getting mine for 2.53, and thats no road tax, but only 1/2 of the $1/g rebate. So it would be 2.03 if I was getting the whole rebate. (Its a long story, i told them to take care of the IRS BS and just take 1/2 the rebate for themselves.)

But either way you go, good for you. Many folks are too lazy/dont care enough to make the change. :ro)

How do you store yours manny to insure it stays good and what time frame should it be used in? Was thinking of picking up a months worth (6 weeks max) at a time.

Well, if you get a drum, it would be best to store it indoors. I like to tilt it on its side, and gravity dispense. But you need a forklift or something like that.

I think that stored bio has a shelf life of something like 6 months.

Dry storage is the key.

Thanks manny. I'm looking at buying 2-3, 5 gallon jugs from him plus he has a few 15 gallon barrels left so maybe one of those. Those sizes work out good for some of the trips we take. Figured I'd do the 55 after that and just fill the others as needed from that.

Sounds like youve got it all figured out! Those 5g jobs do work real well on trips.

Who is the suppier?

ARCO has brewing ULSD since last year...this is the refinery in Carson. Valero has a refinery in Wilmington that is also producing the fuel..not sure who they sell to.

Yeah, that is one useless web site. Lots of blank spaces saying "please get yourself a plugin".

The primary purpose of web stuff is to provide information. The address of fuel station is one of those text items that should be text. I nominate that web site for "Worst of The Web".

BTW, does the place have an actual address? Can you buy fuel there?

Pacific Pride is a cardlock network...the distributor is ITL and they were the first B20 supplier that I used. They only have B20 at the pump. For B100..you have to make arrangements...and since it is B100 and not B99...last I heard...it was expensive since no tax credit.

I think...not 100% sure...but Biotane Bob supplies them.

Frank, I'm still trying to get some off of this guy. Says he sold out of everything he had. He was supposed to call me today but no such luck. I've left a message with him and will try again tomorrow. Hopefully, this will pan out as a viable source. 'Supposedly', he gets it in large quantity's (don't know what that means yet) and sells it by appointment out of a warehouse that he's allowed to store it in (?). I'll keep everyone updated.
