Does anyone know if you can buy a 16" tire with an F or G rating? Maybe commercial? My internet searches seem to be sparse.

Thanks

Goodyear makes on

G159 commercial tire.

Goodyear website rates it as an "E" tire with a capacity of 2600 lbs.

Going backwards for my intentions.

Thanks

Goodyear does make a 12 ply 16" tire, but it is designed for trailer usage. To get higher ratings you have to step up to at least 17.5" wheels.

I have Goodyear 235/85/r16 load range G tires on my trailer. They are rated at 3750 lbs each. Like harleycb mentioned, I'm pretty sure the sidewall says that they are for trailer use only though.

Well, so much for trying to get around the cost of 19.5's. Are 17.5's any cheaper?

G159's are an All Position tire. I used them as Steer tires on 18 wheelers, shees.

Now that I think more about it, maybe it was the rims on my trailer that said "for trailer use only". I believe the tires are the G159s that idahofox referred to. I'll have to take a closer look when I get home. I can say for sure that tires are very heavy for their size, and according to the sidewall, they are regrooveable as well. I will post more information tomorrow.

Thanks again for all the help. To clarify, I am not trying to curt or sarcastic. I would like to find a heavier (load capacity) tire that is a 16". I am limited on wheel well space by side tool boxes, and need to stay really close to or less than the height and width dimensions of the 265/75r16e.

So far my only "real" alternative is 19.5" wheels and tires. With these I am limited to the 225's (height) and steel wheels (backspacing).

Now, to the G159's. Goodyear shows a G159 and G159LT. The G159 is 19.5" thru 24.5" tires. The G159LT is shown as a 8.75R 16.5" LT E rated for 2,680 lbs single wheel, max 80 psi. inflation.

Hopefully you guys can give info on your tires because Goodyear does not list them.

Thanks again!

This is what I run on my 5th Wheel.

Goodyear G164RST (http://www.goodyear.com/rv/products/product_g614rst.html) And they are rated R (106 mph not 65)

Load/Inflation Information (http://www.goodyear.com/rv/pdf/rv_inflation.pdf)

(It's a PDF file, let it load.)

It has been some time since I was on Goodyears site, sorry if I mislead you. They may still make the G159 LT235/85R16G but I did not find them. Check with a dealer maybe?

I know about the G164, excellent tire.

Here is the info from my gooseneck trailer tires:

Goodyear G614 RST LT235/85/R16 Load range G
Load Rating 3750 lbs Single, 3415 lbs Dual at 110 PSI inflation pressure
Regroovable

They are a bit on the short side for a 235/85 tire at 30.5" in diameter and about 9.25 inches wide at the sidewalls. It was my rims that were stamped "trailer use only". I could not find any mention of "trailer use only" on the sidewall of the tire. The tread is not very aggresive looking, very much a highway tire. They very outer tread block on each shoulder of the tire does not have any lateral cuts or sipes in it at all, just solid rubber. Alcoa is the only aluminum rim maker that I have found that makes a rim strong enough to get the full benefit of the load capacity of these tires. They have a 16x7 inch version that is rated at 3750 lbs and good for the 110 PSI inflation pressure. Hope this helps.
