How much rwhp can you get out of an LLY? Is it possible to get 450
and 900lbs. to the ground without spending $10,000? I'm riding the fence
on a new d-max v. psd 6.0. I am aware of the issues on both vehicles.
But if there are hardley any upgrades on the GM.....I know the ability of the
6.0 having had one. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes it is possible. You will need about 5k though. The biggest expense by far is the transmission upgrade.

PM him or he should be wondering in here shortly.....

more potential outa a duramax IMO and the duramax has proven that it can take a beating. I have an LB7(an 03) and I am right around 500 hp on fuel and who knows were on spray. I have the same bottom end ect as a new one. Lotsa guys are doing much nuttier stuff than me with the duramaxes without issues.

I may consider a new cummins but I wouldnt even look at the new 6.0 JMO Still would stay with a duramax if I had to do it again without thinking twice. Actually I am more convinced that I made the right decision after the 2 years I have owned it.

See sig for power output of "Big Blue". This was done with a PPE on Kill, VA on Kill, Carter Lift Pump, 4" straight pipe, stock intake, Suncoast III with TTS Convertor. Figure $5k. The trans is the $$$.

I'm not Mcrat, however did produce 590HP and 1090TQ on LLY for well under 10k actually closer to 6k.

to do so you will need a tranny upgrade (mandatory)
stack tuner with harness box (many combos available)
N2O (not necessary for your goals)

Look either at the local racetrack, or at the nearest place that sells fuses. :D

I will be at California Speedway this Friday. See the regional forum.

Sorry Pat, didn't mean to jump in the middle here, but damn you type fast.....

shawnrans,

The Fords of any RWHP are conspicously absent from the track events, which is the only place HP and TQ really count. Internet numbers are just that, numbers, and quite often imaginary. Heck, we can't even get a Ford to show at our dyno days.

I have been a staunch Ford guy for ever but, I have been reading all of the problems that they have been having and am spooked to say the least! I have, regrettably, a 2005 cummins with about 6600 miles on it. BIGGEST mistake of my auto buying carreer!!!!! Can you say JUUUNK?!!! Anyway, the price differential is now a driving force even with my Ford X plan the GMC is still $4000. less for the new loaded dually.):h PM him or he should be wondering in here shortly.....

Actually I have dyno'd my '04 dually 6.0 in Sacramento at Imlers last Oct.

It made 410 rwhp and 715 lbs. No drugs. (meth hose was pinched):h ) Ihave the report just for proof!! I'm just real dissapointed in Ford. Hard to be loyal to a potential turd!!
