: 60' times
ratlover 06-14-2005, 12:31 PM Well since after the first 60' the fun is over anyway and most area for improvement in times is in the 60' what are you all running??? Also if you could give any other details that would be great. I have been concentrating on cutting consistent 60's. I find leaving around 10 PSI I cut mid to low 1.7's. Mid to high 1.68's seem to be the norm on spray but I launch a bit different. Going to try upping launch PSI and hoping for good track prep. This is at a bit over 6800#'s or with the tailgate and spare removed(duno what my "race" weight it when I try to shed pounds) My 60's dont really seem to be affected by weight witch really supprises me since I end up ussually just removing weight from the back of the truck. Maybe when I start walking a finner line on traction???
Caltracs
1/2 bald Dunlop radial rover rt's in 265 75 r 16 set about 35 ish front and 30 ish back
t bars droped with superdiesel sleevs
rancho 9000's set stiff all the way around
Suncoast Converter - off the shelf, the "lose" one I suppose
I think I have a bit more in her(mostly launching harder) and a few other ideas. Just wondering what some of you guys were doing and what I can hope for and if anyone has any ideas.
ratlover 06-15-2005, 05:16 PM nobody is concerend with 60' times or everyone lose thier timeslips or what?
Los Lobos 06-15-2005, 06:01 PM I have been hitting 1.8-1.9 consistently with a few breakouts. I think they will be better once i get a handle on my shift/defuel issue.
ratlover 06-15-2005, 06:10 PM 4x4??? Any specifics?
What programing are you running? You have a rasied rev limiter? Might be bouncing off that? What trans and mods ect?
Elowe65 06-15-2005, 07:20 PM Here's a list of runs, sorted by 8th mile time (some don't list a quarter mile time) and sorted by 2wd vs 4wd.
I have more info in this file, just wish I knew how to post up a excel file in e main window vs. having to do it in a .jpeg.

Exactly the same with me.

All 4WD. VA stoopid, SD front end parts WMI N2O 90 jet, Fabtech traction bars, 31570R16 Stock rev limiter and definately hitting it. Full ATS w/ copilot. By skipping the burnout I generally have better success on shifts. My SD lift pumps will be in this weekend and we'll see how that helps w/ fueling. I will be doing a second port SD N2O system next month and will be mounting the second shot pre CAC. I had a run three weeks ago that should have been in the twelves but I ran into the speed limiter. My prediction on it should have been 12.8-12.9 112-115mph. I hit 107 and was pulling REAL hard and heard a loud bang and shut er down rolling across the line 13.4 @ 94. When I hit the defuel w/ drugs I slipped 5th gear. Everything reset and has tested out good so far. I will be changing programing in two months(to what you have). Usually weighing in @ 7200.
Dmax Tim 06-16-2005, 08:13 AM nobody is concerend with 60' times or everyone lose thier timeslips or what?
Why worry about 60' time if u RED LITE  , U still LOSE
:joke:
Slick 06-16-2005, 08:21 AM Would clamping the springs aid you Philip? I know you've got the bars, and Ranchos, but maybe the clamps would help a tiny bit more? What about running a bigger tire. Seems like I remember Tomac saying his 285's allowed him to launch harder(harder to spin).:confuzeld
ratlover 06-16-2005, 12:00 PM That spread sheet just what you have seen others post? Or is there a thread all that stuff is in? I dont remember an all in one place. I figured a good disscusion on 60's times and what was done could be pretty helpfull to all.
Darn Tim, PRITJ :nutkick: ):h
I've been toying with the idea of different tires.
Slick, You have your bars installed yet? If not shoot me a PM
1.66 on juice, getting better and have some more ideas on how to move her down a bit more.
Elowe65 06-16-2005, 12:41 PM Rat,
Their just times from what everyone has posted. That's why I am always asking for incrementels on times.
I wish I could get dyno numbers, weight, then track times with no other changes (other than slicks), would help with the et,mph,hp formulas I have in excel.
IdahoRob 06-16-2005, 12:45 PM Damn Rat, 1.66 is haulin.:ro) I don't know how much faster you can go without hurtin stuff.
LBZ DMAX 06-16-2005, 02:44 PM Best 60ft. to date is a 1.924 I plan on making that 60ft. a thing of the past this Friday night! :exactly: ):h
ratlover 06-16-2005, 08:59 PM If I can remember right I will scan my log book or make some copies and send em to ya.......
GMC-2002-Dmax 06-16-2005, 10:01 PM 5-7 psi boost launch.........
Loosey~Goosey Suncoast Converter...... ....1.755/60 is my best so far.
Any more boost and I spin the tires too much..........any less and the turbo lags........
Still looking for a 1.70..........maybe next weekend.........
Forced Induction 06-17-2005, 09:04 AM 1.8x to 1.9x Leaving with no more than about 5psi. NO sleeves, bars, clamps, ect. 100% stock suspension, well 90% because of Bilstiens. Bar down all the way. I ran 1.8x when it was cold ~45 F, and at the last race, 1.9x was the norm with the same 5psi but 88 deg F. Once I get the sleeves installed, I'll launch harder. Other info is in sig. Can't wait to launch like Phil. I'll bet Carbon04 has some pretty good numbers:rolleyes:
gmccall 06-17-2005, 09:47 AM 1.78 I believe is my best 60 ft but I am working on it. See sig for build.
I have not tried letting the air out of the tires as low as some others here so that is next.
dmaxalliTech 06-17-2005, 12:04 PM Phil, there is nothing wrong with the 60's for non slicks and a street truck
Slick 06-17-2005, 03:28 PM Phil wants perfection!:ro)
ratlover 06-17-2005, 04:48 PM I know mine arernt bad ;) I was just wanting to see how much the big dogs were doing and I also though it may make for good disscusion. There is always room for improvement too.
I really dont think my "loose" suncoast converter hurts my 60' times.
Shocks are a BIG help. With some sleeves to eliviate your fear of bending stuff I think you will be able to 60' pretty good.
MADDOG1 06-18-2005, 02:22 AM 1.55 60' :)
fredw 06-18-2005, 11:29 AM i am running 295 toyo and last time at the track with a weight of 7100 i did 7 passes with 60' anywhere from 1.96 to 1.83, bars were down all the way, bilsteins, tire pressures at 25lbs, sd sleeves, almost every run had wheelspin, in 4wd, hard to launch at that low of a boost i guess for me, did find out after i had excessive toe in, few ideas to try different for next time, there was a cummins 4by 4 there that never droped his bars or wheel pressure, and was doing 1.76 launches all nightwould like to get there myself tho
Carbon04 06-18-2005, 04:28 PM best to date is a 1.70
McRat 06-18-2005, 05:29 PM 2WD new best 1.905, needs more HP.
moss022 06-18-2005, 07:44 PM 1.77 is my best. this might be programing? last time it was to hot to try anything different. theres always next time.
WI Huck 06-19-2005, 12:06 AM 1.779 is the best out of the stack in my truck. Lots more 1.8xx. I have very little problems with tire spin. I am not real exact with my take off, and play it by ear. I know the RPM’s are high though. It must be due to the wide tires. We will have to stuff them under Carbon04’s truck some night and see what happens. The at least I can say my rims and tires were in the 12’s!:D
ratlover 06-20-2005, 10:38 AM Maddog, your running a ford cummins correct? Nice short times. The ford and dodge guys really cut some mean 60's.
IdahoRob 06-20-2005, 11:27 AM I heard an interesting idea. The dodge guys have a taller first than the alli. The idea is if we could figure out a way to launch in second gear, we might improve the 60' times. I'm not a tranny guy, sounds like it might be hard on clutches.
Rob
gmccall 06-21-2005, 05:53 PM It is evident that the tire pressures need to be set pretty low.
My best is a 1.78 with tire pressures at 35lbs in the front and 33 in the rear.
I run 265x75x16 BFG KOs.
If I come out with to much boost (?) I get spin and a little hop, and I have Cal tracs and springs clamped. I believe the front is hopping a little, not the rear.
Elowe65 06-21-2005, 09:17 PM Just to add some comparison to the subject, and correct me if I am wrong,
The best 60's I have recorded are
for a 2wd is 1.79 by dieselcr337 on his 8.116 8th mile pass. not sure if slicked or not. BMDMAX had a 1.921 on his 7.87/12.13 pass, not sure if slicked though.
for a 4wd is 1.602 by N2ODmax on his 11.262 pass. once again, not sure if slicked, but assume so in this case.
Now there could be others with quicker times that have not either posted their times, or posted timeslips, so I'm not saying these are the overall quickest, just in general.
Eric McBride 06-22-2005, 09:38 AM 1.26 with 15 psi built. That's with the converter slipping, but it pulled 1.8 G's!
Lowe, are you only recording Dmaxes on your table?
ratlover 06-22-2005, 11:44 AM Thats a wee bit better than me ;) What are you hoping to get her down to???
Elowe65 06-22-2005, 12:49 PM Eric,
Is there anything else other than a Duramax worth giving any thought to???:D ):h :ro)
Yes table is for dmax street trucks...
Not to get too far off the subject, but cummins have been around for how long?? The dmax has been around for how long? And is already giving cummins a run for their money....
As long as cummins has been around, I'd expect them to be the top dog...but not for long...
IdahoRob 06-22-2005, 01:22 PM I was thinking why my 60's aren't up to snuff. Wonder with the stock tires and the somewhat slow 1-2 shift, if the truck is shifting into second before the 60' mark, and showing the slower time. Guys running taller tires might be shifting into second after 60' and showing good 60's. Well... could be I just suck too.
Rob
Eric McBride 06-22-2005, 01:54 PM Lowe,
Not really, to answer your question. And you know I'm not brand specific, the Duramax is one kick ass engine! Some guy came to our pits Sunday and said something about an Isuzu boat anchor and I said, that's funny; come to the Nationals and see if you walk away thinking that....
