You need a puller to remove it. It won't come off on its own. AutoZone or other parts stores rent these tools (essentially for free).

Thats what i thought but theres no holes or anyway to hook a puller to it

i have never seen a crank pulley have to be pulled off with a pulley. everyone that i have seen has slide right off. try gettin you a pry bar and VERY gentle like pry on it alittle.

Balancer's need a puller not a pulley that bolts on... if its a pressed on pulley like on a PS pump then you have to pull it off with a puller.

I'm talking SBC stuff...

I know thats what i'v read that its just suppose to slide right off! But nope it wont budge. I think the 6.5 can be pulled of with a puller but not the dmax's

no puller...get under it with a punch and Arkansas swing press...it'll pop loose

I'm only speaking from my 6.5 experience. The DMax might be different. A three jawed puller might give it the assist it needs anyway.

No, no puller needed, Its not pressed on. I believe the aftermarket ones are though or at least the one socal sells. Give it a couple raps with a dead blow and it should come free.

I have been down this road.......The balancer just slides off, no puller. When they put mine on at the factory, they must have rolled a burr up on the key. I spent 3 hours, tapping, heating, and prying. I got the best results by using a propane torch and warming the balancer hub to where it was just hot to the touch. You have to be REALLY careful not to damage the seal. Once I got it to move a little bit I just kept working it on and off until it finally came loose. Be careful, that thing is heavy if it comes off when you don't expect it!!
