Can anyone tell me if the following oil could be used for anything on my pickup?
Mobil SHC 629
ISO VG150
I have a 55 gallon drum of it
Thanks in advance

Mobil Oil (http://www.mobil.com/USA-English/Lubes/PDS/GLXXENINDMOMobil_SHC_600.asp)
It would be good for the differentials if towing on the equator. That stuff is straight 150 weight if I read that web page correctly.

Thanks. I'm not quite close enough to the equator to use it , I guess.

since this is a dead thread about oil i thought i'd post it here and revive it instead of starting a new one. thanks
today im going to be changing my oil for the first time. i see the oil filter, but now sure where the drain bolt is. is it the one that is on a black pan under the engine with a few wires running into the pan 3-4" away from the bolt?
also with the allison spin on filter, do i put the magnet on and fill it or fill it and put the magnet on? i remember reading that one way is better than the other but cant remember which.
i saw some what appeared the be ATF ( it was red anyway) on the bottom of my engine. not a lot, but enough to make it drip a little. i figured there was too much fluid in the transmission and it purged itself of that little extra when it was hot, but do they typically come overful from the factory? transmission has never gotten over 160degrees. could it be something else?
thanks a lot for any info you can give me, i'm pretty nervous about this whole deal
ps- damn truck rides like a low-rider from the factory so i have to use a lift!

Crap...I just posted, but then deleted thinking I was in the posting in the wrong thread...DUH!
You are correct and found the drain plug. Consider getting a Fumoto Valve to make oil changes WAY easier.
As for the spin on filter. I fill it up, replace magnet and put it on. Easy.
I suspect your ATF oil drip may be from the vent, but keep and eye on it to be sure.

SH629 is used in oil field heavily. It is used for gearbox, screw compressor, piston pump lube, etc. I would not put it in an engine. Clean drum of the stuff bring alittle over $1000 here. Place an ad and try to sell.

Yeah, oil change can be a bit messy taking out the plug. These things hold so much oil it comes out quickly. The fumoto makes the oil change so easy you think you forgot something durinng the process.
