alright i put new pitman and idler arms on with the support kit then new tie rods and new upper ball joints, still a inch of movement in the steering wheel. finally i noticed that most/all the play is between the steering wheel and the firewall because i can put one hand on the shaft where it goes though the fire wall and the other hand on the steering wheel and move it a good bit with out feeling movement in my other hand.
have any of yall had this problem, or know what it is? its making my truck a pain to drive

thats what it seems like it has to be, i keep readin bout greasing them but is that just to fix the rattle or will it take the play out of it?

That just fixes the rattle, though there's a chance your current steering shaft is worn out and allowing some slop. You can't get the grease kit anymore, now there's a new shaft that's fixed the problem for good. Part # 19153614.

It isn't the shaft, probably just a loose box.

You may need to adjust your steering gear box.
