Just finish looking at the Dodge site, and they list a 5 spd automatic with OD as a option, called a dealer and he said they are an option. I didn't know there was a 5 spd auto, just the 48re, but he went on to say Izuzu built the Duramax on a Gas engine platform, which is horse****e. But he was certain about the 5 spd auto, but said Dodge opened up a Allison and copied that, so to be honest I am not sure if this is for real, except its listed as a 5-speed automatic transmission 5-45RFE as well as a 6 spd HD manuel trans as options and the regular 4 spd auto. I would think the Dodge guys would be screaming about this. Since I am checking out the competition, I really like the Allison, Grade breaking is great, I tow a 5th wheel and a good 5 spd auto with a cummins in front of it, might be what the doctor oredered. Anybody here about this?

Too Bad, was thinking that Dodge finally stepped up to the plate by offering a 5 sp auto for the cummins.

Hopefully dodge is being smart and skipping the 5 speed auto and jumping to a 6 speed automatic to keep pace with gm?

A 7 Speed Eaton Fuller Auto would be cool.

i'd almost like to see a CVT transmission.. if they can develop one to maintain like 400hp/800ft/lbs power input, they would have something that would be interesting... i think it would need to have some sort of mechanical direct drive/overdrive connection, and just the cvt part in the "lower gear" range... so would that be 3 speed, or infinite+2?
