I just purchased my first deisel truck 2004 chevy 2500hd LB7, I have added a hyeperteck chip and cold air intake. What are the advantages of adding a 4" exhaust system, and what if any are the disadvantages

Welcome to the best site on the net for Dmax info. I don't know of any disadvantages for installing the 4". Some of the advantages would be better throttle response, cooler egts, and better sound. Do a search on exhaust and you will find plenty of info.

Disadvantages are higher noise levels than stock and most systems have some "drone".

What are you going to do with your Truck ?

Pull heavy loads - a good 4" should lower EGTS
Pull light loads occassionally - Probably only need a muffler
No pulling but a little racing - only need a muffler unless will be going for big crazy horspower, and then you will need a tranny upgrade

My experience has been that, a the tranny upgrade will be necessary before anything more than a muffler upgrade.

The TTS system is darn near as quite as stock with no drone. When driving with the windows close there is no measurable change in the interior noise level before or after. So if quite with power is what your looking for we've got ya covered.

I installed the MBRP exhaust on my '02 D/A. It was a very nice system but was louder than I wanted and it had a slight "drone" at just below highway cruising speed. Are you willing to guarantee that the TTS system has no drone? I have a CC short bed .... if someone was willing to offer a money back guarantee including shipping that whatever brand exhaust would have almost stock levels of noise and no drone I would buy it.

swilk,

We can get you into our resonator, for the folks that have used it with the D max it kills any drone and lowers the volume too. Lots less money that replacing the system too. They are available in aluminized and stainless.

spk,

Quicker spool up on the turbo, lower EGT's nice rumble when you nail it too. Some folks report MPG gains as well. That said you need to consider getting gauges as well, if you tow and since you have a programmer you need to be aware of EGT's. Give us a call and we'll be glad to help you.

Give us a call and I'm sure we can help you out. I assume you are still running the cat in your truck and if so we will guarantee our noise levels. We have yet to have anyone have a noise issue with our kits.
