So I finally broke down and bought the ICCE OTR's I've always wanted. While at it, I picked up some Toyo M/T's after the reviews I've been seeing. On this truck so far I've had Pro Comp Xtreme all terrain's and Nitto Terra Grapplers. These things are AWESOME!!!! I can't believe how quiet they are! I always said I would never buy m/t's due to the noise and fact that you can always feel the lugs.... not these! They sound and feel like a normal all terrain tire.
As for a comparable sound, to me they sounded like my Nitto's once they got wore down a bit. Or like a new set of BFG all terrain's! Not totally quiet, but the noise is barely there! It's so faint that with your radio on at all, you can't hear em. Hopefully I'll get good mileage.... we'll see. My previous mileage is below.
Pro-Comp Xtreme A/T - 42K miles
Nitto Terra Grappler - 16K miles

All 3 sets of toyo mt's that I have had sounded like they made less noise the more miles I put on them. For you guys that say they get louder, are your tires getting cupped out or wearing uneven? I rotate every 5,000 and have always had a nice even wear on these tires.

I find when it comes to noise and such people have different tolerences then others. My friend has some Copper STT's and he claims little to no noise. We can't even have a conversation over 40MPH.

Toyo M/Ts are the only way to go. Low noise and last for a decent amount of time....On my second set of 37x13.50x20s . If only they were cheaper. The first set I paid 380 for in 05 not they are about 480ish IIRC.

Yes Max that's all I got out of the Nitto's. I rotated them at 3K, 8K, and at 13K. It's obviously not my driving style, as I got 40K out of the Pro-Comps.
I ripped Nitto a new one telling them how horrendous this was, and was looking for some help.... maybe some kind of pro-rate or something. They told me to kiss it basically. Kind of shocked I bought the Toyo's considering they are the same company.
I'm not sure I'm gonna get to test the mileage on these things, as I'm thinking about pulling them off at 5K and selling them.... and keeping that pattern going.

What is the compound like on your MT's are they rather soft or hard? I think that has alot to do with the road noise. I had a set of 285/75/16 Maxxis Buckshot's I think and they where soft feeling but where the best MT I ever owned. they wore really good and noise was minimal for a MT.

They are def. soft compared to some of the M/T's I've seen, like the BFG's and Nitto MG's. They also stay VERY cool. I've stopped the second I got off the highway and they were almost cold to the touch. Where in the past, all my tires are usually warm to hot in the same situation, even in weather in the teens. I think the coolness may help w/ mileage some, as it may help to prevent break down of the rubber, but we'll see. Usually my experience w/ soft tires, leads to short lived (I.E. Nittos). But I've also noticed those softer tires get extremely hot, not these puppies. The reports are on here are encouraging as far as mileage though.... so only time will tell.
