Hi everyone forums great I have a 1982 GMC Sierra C2500. I tried searching all over for help with the trannsmission, brakes, and leaks, couldnt find much
basically my problems with my truck are as follows.

Shifting: The truck runs smoothly then when it shifts it feels like a "kick"
I checked the tranny fluid it is full also checkd the differtial had fluid as well per haps new tranny all together?

Leaks: I've noticed after I park the truck for a few hours there will be some oil spots on the floor my first guess was the drain bolt or the oil pan took off the pan gasket didnt look to worn out I know I have to get another on maybe someone else has any good ideas?

Braks: This is the one that has the truck parked for the time being I was driving the truck came to an intersection and no brakes had to slam everything to the floor to barely slow down with the help of the ebrake I've looked around some people say it is their hydro booster other mastercylynder I have no leaks however I cant figure outwhich one went out would I need to replace both or one? and if so which one?

Thanks for anyones help in advance I love my rig will post up pics when I get a chance.
Joe

2500 should have a turbo 400. if your vacuum pump is worn out it may be screwing up your shifting. tranny modulator requires vacuum. is it a 3 speed or 4 speed tranny?
when you had no brakes was the pedal soft or hard?

As for the tranny, a firm shift isn't bad but a real hard shift could be low vacuum from the vacuum pump (assuming you have the 3 speed T400) The vac pump is at the rear of the valley where a distributor would be in a gas engine. check with a gauge to see if you have about 20" or more from the pump.

well the truck is a 4 speed when brakes went out they went soft and hit he floor was barely enough to stop from running a red... as far as the turbo goes it is the original N/A engine from the first built detroits let me know if some pics of the engine would help I do appreciate your guys time.

Do you still have fluid in your master cylinder? It shouldn't be hydro boost cause you'd still have brakes without it just no "power".

yes there still is fluid in the resavoir of the master cylinder in the bigger part there is more fluid than in the smaller part

sounds like a bad master or you have air leaks in the lines or rear cylinders.
the turbo spoke about is a turbo 400 transmission. you have a 700r if its a 4 speed. tranny could have issues or cable to tranny is out of adjustment

alrite thanks for the advice on the tranny so the rear cylinders where would the possible location be? so my best bet if there are no leakes in the line or no air replce the master.so no problems with the power boost. thanks guys.

I would bleed the brakes first and see if it does anything

i tried bleeding them came back with no air in the system now when i put the brake pedal to the floor it goes half way feels like there is hesitation then proceeds to hit the floor so chances are its the master?

try bleeding the master cylinder. theres special kits to do that. if theres a bit of air in these stupidmaster cylinders nothign works right. atleast thats what mine did.

Yeah I would definetly say its the master.

As said earlier a firm solid shift is not a bad thing, does the fluid smell burnt? If not don't worry about it. Main place I have seen leaks on these motors are valve cover gaskets or rear main seal.

no it doesnt smell burnt it is clean red everytime I check it however I did discover from my tranny cooler line leading to the rubber hose back to the trans(exiting the ratiator) is a hair line split I will definatly replace it fluid tends to splurt out from it when the truck is warming up

sounds good to change that out as soon as you can . ATF blowing around is never good.
