Does anyone know what the Allison part # is for the NSBU switch on a 03
I have a tan switch now and I read that a new black one with just one electrical connector is the newest version.
Is this new black one any better and how hard is the electrical plug to rewire for it or should I just try to get a tan one again.
Just want to keep one for spare
Any part numbers would be appreciated.
Thx

There are a couple of "newest ones". Before July 2003, it is black with a single 12 pin connector. There is no alignment bar on it. It contains oil which leaks out. It can be sealed. Check my earlier NSBU posts. After July 2003, don't know what color of the switch but do know the harness sensor plugs were redesigned.

I thought they started out with a black one then switched to tan and then went back to a new redisigned black one which is diffrent from the original black one?
Yes ? No ? Maybe?

I depend on my Allison dealer for the latest and greatest. So far I am not disappointed. I do not pay attension to color, only the latest update. This is the part # I am using now.

The newest ones in 04 and later are the black one connector ones. The newest ones in pre 04 trucks are brown 2 connector ones. You could probably rewire the 2 connectors into the one connector but I don't think there is a good reason to.

Ahhhh I thought I heard something about the new ones being black again.
But I guess your right, no point in rewiring it if the tan ones for the older trucks works just as well.
Thx again

You can rewire your harness to the 12 pin connector and use the updated, supposedly waterproof NSBU switch. It took me two years to get the new connector. Now Delphi is supposedly getting me a quote on a whole new harness for the Allison. The stealer wanted $1200.00 and I had to find them the part number because they couldn't. The good reason is that I've changed out three failed two connector NSBU switches. I opened them up and all were fouled by moisture. I off road in in areas where it neccessary to cross streams and mud bogs.
