I am getting a bit of smoke from my 84 at startup, but after a few minutes it clears up. I'd like to check my IP pressure myself. I have a spare engine and was thinking I could maybe fab up an adapter to put inline with one of the injectors and check the pressure there. I'd need the spec for the pressure and a meter. In addition I could check the same on the spare engine (86) to see if that IP works, possibly swapping it with the 84. Any suggestions?

In the cold weather smoke on start up for a few minutes is not really a problem. If you are talking the pressure going to the injectors your looking at some serious pressure.

It smokes on start warm or cold weather, and didn't do it till I put in a used IP. My engine has less than 20K since longblocked.
Yeah, that's the pressure I want to measure, any idea on the pressure involved? I'm willing to try with the proper range gauge.

According to Diesel Power magazine the DB2 pump generates 6700psi.
