I did the search of the code. Found out alot of use info. My issue is taking it to the dealer
SES p0089 repeatedly for about 4 days...

I've got a 2001 c/c 4x4 dmax. with the Edge w/ ***. 71,000mi.
Suncoast stage 5 trans
The muffler was removed from the exhaust, dynomax 4in. silencer installed.

I'm in Orange County Ca. Does anybody recommend a dealer in the area.
Do i need to remove the Edge???? probe has the stay in manifold..
Would like to know what is covered under the 100k warranty. From what I've read it should be except for deductible. Do you think there going to try and void warranty because of edge. What should i expect to pay ?
When i'm at the dealer should i ask for the reflash of the ecm. Never had it done. And have them look at balance rate of injectors.

I just dropped off my truck at the dealership. I took all of the components from under the hood, but left the attitude display on the A pilar. The mechanic saw the display and asked me if i had been using the edge. I told him that I had. He said it wasnt a big deal, but it would help him with the history of the truck and how it was driven. Well see what happens.

I'd say rudy fontana just got lucky. Dealerships vary on what they will chastize you for when it comes to performance enhancers for these trucks. I'd remove everything but the probe. You can claim that you haven't installed the guage for the probe yet. Good luck.

A bit off topic - but we should create a "sticky" listing Chip/Tuner friendly dealerships. I know the Carr Cheverolet in Portland OR welcomes trucks with them. They sell/install Edge, Hypertech, etc. I asked the service writer once if I needed to remove it before I brought it in. He said "heck no, we install them!"

Yeah, until the area rep happens to be in the shop the day you bring your truck in.

i think their should be a sticky with a list of things that will or will not void the warranty, and stuff straight from gm not stuff that people may have got by with or maybe their dealer just doesnt care. thats been my biggest probelm with the new truck is the urge for mods, but so far a k&n filter is as far as iv went

I just ordered my pyro and pillar mount today to cover up the edge just in case my truck has to go in for injectors.

Ask for a list in writing, tell them you need it for a reference tool.

If i do im gonna have to talk to another guy this time, every time i ask about somthing they shoot me a line of bs:blahblah: , i swear i think i know more than most of them do just from reading around here, when i got the truck the guy told me that the allison transmission also came with a 100K mile warranty, i just looked at him and smiled):h

MachinedDmax, if i was you i wouldnt take any chances, its worth taking timeout to remove it if you can save some $$$$, or atleast it would be to me

That doesn't make sense? I doubt the parts dept. hides all the stuff when the reps come in, that would be a huge waste of time. :exactly:

Besides, how often do they come in?

I dropped off my truck today for a coolant leak and injector issue. It needs number 6 injector and most likey, water pump.-:t I was recommended to this dealer by Clyde (socaldieseltech) and the service writer asks me, "it's not heavily moddified, right?" I left the banks under the hood and he didn't have a problem with it. Yet again, I think Clyde has a pretty strong influence on them boys down there.;)

If I didn't know the dealer, I would play it safe and remove all the power adders on the truck and leave no traces of it behind. Good Luck and keep us posted!

The dealership would have no reason to hide all their stuff; GM doesn't care that they sell it. GM would only care if a modded truck needed warranty work. There was a post a while back on here from someone who bought a box through their dealership, but when it needed warranty work they were hassled about having the box.

My brother-in-law is a GM dealership mechanic, and while they don't do diesel work, they do sell quite a few GTOs and such. According to him, anytime they put through any type of "unusual" warranty repair (particularly on a higher performance car) their area rep comes out to take a look before approving the repair.

It's no problem removing the edge. But i'm still going to have the hole in the pillar from the attiude. Plus hole in the manifold from the pyro, which I can plug with a NPT plug. I was just curious as to how well there going to look.

My issue are sometimes lopey idle, with surging.
Recently P0089 code that resets then comes back, fuel pres. reg.
I have not got any ECM reflashes, Went to my local dealer they had no idea about the reflash.
Haven't had my injectors balances looked at..
Does any body in the Central OC ,cal. have one of the good programers that can look at injec. bal rates ????

Ijust would like to know exactly what to say to the service writer.
Is the pressure reg covered under warranty ?
Can they look at my injector and replace if nescesary. all or just the ones that need to be replaced ? I've read if you ***** to them they would replace them all.
Anybody have good luck with a OC dealer so i can take it there. Who to talk you..

thanks for all the replys...
For now i'm sure i'll take the edge off. plug the mainfold.
What to do with the pillar holes ???? Sticker ? remove pillar. how much at dealer for new one. Any used ones around ??? I'll buy it , rent it,...
