As stated before my oil analysis showed 10 for soot and that it was a very good ratingb. Not knowing what this meant I started asking questions . The best explanation I got was that engineers determined what is the maxiuum amout of soot allowable and assigned it the number 100. Thusly a 10 means 10 percent an is a good reading. Some tester manufactures apparently use a different numbering system. My information source says that he believes somne use the number 1 for max soot allowable and thusly a .2 would mean 20 percent. What it boils down to is unless your are very well informed you have accept the lab operators evaluation of the readings. Have a good day guys.
