Is there a way to swap from XM to Sirius without swapping head units in the new Dmax? I want to keep the stock head unit. BestBuy said no. Any help would be thankfull.:help:

The way I did it was to get a portable Sirius Kenwood K2000 and use a aux in from http://peripheralelectronics.com/2002/aux_in.asp . That way I didn't have to use the FM transmitter and was able to mount it down in the center console.

Let me know if you have any additional questions.
:D

I was looking for a way to do it without having the portable unit. Can the module be replaced with a Sirius module?

I am wondering what wonderful gadget Sirius is going to give those of us with XM that purchased XM specifically for listening to Nascar and will now have to switch to Sirius beginning in 2007? My thoughts are they are going to come up with some sort of very cost effective change over to get people to switch economically? Or maybe even free stereo upgrade/replacements?

You can use a Soundgate interface and a Kenwood tuner. It uses the factory headunit and the steering wheel controls all work. No ugly crap hanging off dash.

SoundGate works great. I'm not sure if you can use your XM antenna, but you will need the Kenwood tuner as mentioned above. All buttons work from the steering wheel controls except for the one to cycle through the presets. I believe that this is the only option so far with out a portable unit.

Forgive my stupidity.... but I have had both Sirius and XM.... Why would anyone want to change over to Sirius?

Sirius has a better selection of my type of music. I like classic and alternative rock:ro) and XM only has two channels that are to my taste out of all the other crap that is on there. -:t

You can retain the factory XM antenna. I just installed an Alpine 9855 with Sirius with no problems.

Sweet! Good to know! I prefer Sirius because at the time I subscribed, XM was playing commercials and Sirius gave me $300 worth of Kenwood stuff for free. I have been a subscriber for over 2 years and I am still ahead!

Both satellite systems have their unique programming. XM has MLB, NASCAR, College Sports. Sirius has NFL, NBA, NHL. I have both systems. It all depends on what catches your ear.

2007 you can count that NASCAR off of your XM, it will be Sirius. Thanks for the help people. Looks like I can have my cake and eat it too.:cool2:
