I have read and seen news stories about people running their Diesels on recycled fryer oil (vegtable Oil) Is there anyone here that has done it, has thought about it, or knows of some one who did it? I am starting to look into this a possiblilty to decrease my dependancy on foreign oil.

QuantumMechanic has been doing it for a while. I think he started a thread called "using yellow grease as a fuel supplement" . Check it out ):h

Waste Veggie Oil is not for Duramaxes.

Biodiesel is WVO that has been through the process of transesterfication. In other words, it has the glycerin removed. It is lighter, and much more like diesel.

Find biodiesel pumps in the sticky at the top of this forum.

I know people that run wvo mixed with diesel in the Dmaxes and PS. The trick is to understand the nature of what you're dealing with. If you wish to use dirty fryer oil, you must filter it before adding it to your tank. Where as if you add virgin oil to you fuel, no filtering required. Mixes between 5%-30% WVO to a tank of diesel is generally all that you need to smell and feel a difference. The biggest problems with WVO are letting it sit up in the system a long time (it will gel) or trying to run it when it's cold out and the fuel is gelled up or clogging up the fuel system due to too many particulates in the WVO.

I started mixing WVO in last week and now QM is my hero. I am currently at 10% and am going to go to about 25%. QM is right on target when he says you have to filter the hell out of WVO. I have a very clean source so it's not too bad and at $2.50 a gallon for regular diesel, blending and filtering the WVO is worth the effort. Thanks for doing it first QM:ro)
