I have 2007.5 2500 diesel with the rear locking option from the factory, but its not working anymore. Anyone have opinions on lockers they have used?

Get an Eaton Truetrac or AAM Torsen, same diff design. Uses helical gears and doesnt wear out, its a limited slip not a true locker. They work great and will serve you well.

What he said.......

I would be willing to bet that yours is still working, just that you are trying to engage it at too high of speed. It will only lock when you are under 25 mph give or take 5 mph. Mine won't lock above 20 mph, just taking off from a stop sign turning right on to a city street I'm moving too fast by the time the turbo spools up and it will light the inside tire without engaging the diff.

Just try to power brake the truck but keep the speedo below 20 mph, two black marks it works, one it doesn't. If it's shot you might be able to get the dealership to warrantee it that way you have a working diff to sell on Ebay once you get the torsens style that comes in the Dodge's.

^^X3 on the true track, the aam unit as stated is basicly the same torsen design but my understanding is that it has a 2:1 torque bias the true trac has a 3:1 so a little more traction and is in general a stronger unit. But it is also about $300 bucks more than the AAM.

thanks for the input, I'm pretty sure mine doesnt work at all. I was stuck the other day and only had one wheel spinning in the rear.

Are you sure you had one to start with? It is an option, look for G80 in the glove box.

sounds just like my 07.5 LMM I've managed to bury just the right side of my truck a few times now. It takes forever for the diff to lock and then when it does it shocks the non-spinning tire and then they both start spinning which gets me nowhere.

Yes I have that option. I got it fixed under warranty.

I've been there! The way I got unstuck was to spin it up until it locked, and then let it come down to idle... but you can't touch the brakes! That way it stayed locked and I could apply gentle throttle to get out. G80 is a POS

I had a Dodge posi unit installed, when I had my gears done. No problems and it lays 2 black marks all day long.

grizzly is the only locker that comes to mind, if you want true locking w/o air (ARB). The rest are limited slip - all great of course!!!
